Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I keep looking at some posts in here and in the FF and I just don’t get the extremist reactions. Tossing my buzzed, convoluted thoughts here:

Heupel had some horrid, unforgivable decisions in this game - like not going for the kill after the TO. But we’re also not in this game (and should’ve won without a PERFECT Stockton fourth down ball {double shoutout to him, he played a great game today and did everything he had to for the more talented team to win}) without him dicing up the UGA defense on multiple occasions. This team is very good and would have championship potential if it were healthy. But we’re not and I, sadly, think that will be what ultimately hinders this team from winning 9-10 games.

I really love and admire everyone on this team, but they’re gonna have to do something that hasn’t been done in 20+ years if they want to have a chance at sniffing the playoff. Do I think they can do it? Yes. Do I think they will? Eh. I really hope we can get healthy on the D-line. I think that’s way more important than the secondary and would have much more of an impact.

I love this. In today’s era of NIL, I really think us fans care more about outcome s than most players. I’m very proud that we can cheer for guys, in all sports, that are VFLs and love our school.

This team is hungry and is going to put that work in everyday to get better.

Shouldn’t.

It shouldn’t. But they’re gonna benefit from being ranked so high to start the season.

Really feel like they shouldn’t release rankings until first in-conference game. Sucks that we were behind the eight ball being ranked like 24th and trying to catch up from beginning. If today is any indication, we are a top ten team but we’re sitting at 15 maybe lower because of preseason rankings.

Well he has plenty reason to be frustrated. He was committed to uga before flipping to us, and I’m sure he would have loved to win that game to stick it to them.

Sleep didn't help. Still struggling with the outcome of that game. He didn't cost us the game single-handedly, it was a compilation of mistakes, questionable play calls, some bad officiating, etc.... but MG should have made that FG to win the game.
Sleep today, was non existent. For whatever reason. Wasnt the loss.

1. We narrowly beat, and I mean shouldve have beaten arguably the best team in the Country, with a QB from App State.

2. What can you say about Joey ? Has the it factor. Ultimately he's learning on the job as much as anyone else is. Just going to get better.

3. Defense. For all the 'oh the talent is stacked' crowd. Staff will have to get to it this offseason. At very least add a big time LB, and stud DL. Maybe a safety, (but we know this wont happen).

I think there were some calls yesterday. We just either werent fast enough to get pressure, or they knew what was coming. Safety, and linebacker play. Really DL interior...

Yes, couple missed tackles. But, esp around the goal line, we were completely, completely ineffective. I mean, they did whatever they wanted.

Ifs like we are trying to run blitz, and Georgia knows exactly who's blitzing, from where, and when. We must do a horrible job of disguising blitzes.

4. Max Gilbert - Gotta make that kick. But, cant do stupid **** to ice your kicker.

5. Josh Josephs. Guy was the defense.

6. UAB, and then MISS State - Ultimately truth being in the middle. You went toe to toe with the best. Losses happen. Defense played like absolute dogshit. But you still should, and almost won the game.

You have too feel good about this loss. Absolutely have too. Honestly i'm still pumped.

UAB is time to tighten it up. Joey has to crispen it up. Those guys need to work on execution and be more consistent.

Get back to that first half offense.

Defense, I dont know what to tell you. Arent great, or even really good.

Either get healthy, or clone three Jaxson Mois. Even 10% improvement, is improvement. Absolute dogwater.

MSU has to be a statement game. And I mean punch in the mouth.

It's amazing how this fan base eats its own. From belittling each other to name calling.

I don't see this as a loss I see it as progress to where we ultimately want to be, beating the top dog in the conference again and taking over as the best. It warms my heart that we're close to being the hunted instead of the hunters.

It wasn't Gilbert's fault we came up short, it was a combination of things from poor execution on some plays to some key players being out. Yes, the officiating was questionable but it's like that in every game in college football.

i would rather lose a, close game we could've won instead of getting blown out and dominated like we had for the last 7 or 8 years vs Kirby Smart and Georgia. We will still make playoffs as long as we beat who we suppose to and take advantage of the Gators down in Florida and Alabama. I was skeptical of this team this year but after yesterday I see a really good team that will make waves in CFP...

Stop accusing me of eating people. I'm going to sue you for libel.

Believe what you want. I won’t force you. But I heard it before the season. And now AP said McCoy is close but will he play? He has agents giving him advice and family but he loves his team so things could get interesting. Go listen to it.
Has to be a lot of truth to this. IMO just cut him if he’s not going to play.
