Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

It's not nearly what it used to be but it's still a thing because of Bama's reputation as an NFL factory. It's definitely happening to a lesser degree now and it eventually won't happen at all which is what AJ was trying to illustrate to Bama fans. There would be no reason to invent that.
I think when Saban was there some of the recruits got the “Bama-bump” but were also developed into NFL players by his staff. Now that he is gone some recruiting sites may still be giving them the bump (thus the high recruiting rankings in the last 2 years) but the players aren’t being developed like during the Saban years.

That talent is not getting developed...at ALL...it does not matter how much talent you have if it remains, undisciplined and soft.

And that is exactly what all that talent is at Alabama now...highly rated guys are going there, especially on defense, and ruining their careers until they are smart enough to transfer to a school that actually coaches them.

They look absolutely pathetic and soft.
So Butch Jones redux. That’s horrible, lol.

Wondering if this impacts us at all as the “flagship” school.

Adidas is making a huge push into college football with NIL and endorsement opportunities. Nike has become complacent and is losing some market, mainly because Adidas is paying more.

Adidas made us a great deal and control...... If they offer that to others so be it, once again we are on the cutting edge of trends and paving the way.

South Carolina I could see..maybe Clemson but in the magnitude compared to us?..nahhhh…South Carolina is a sleeper though depending on who they play
After watching that game I'm not sure how much I trust them being really good, that o line doesn't look good, and QB is up and down.

I’ve been to a game there where we lost a close one. It wasn’t loud. The loudest part of that stadium is the stupid arse rooster crow they do over the speakers.

It's funny to read those comments and see how many Nike fanboys there are acting like it's the end of the world.

I'm not sure how that speaks to my post, that you quoted. Of course both could be true. My post wasn't indicating otherwise.

Someone claimed that Ellarby is a terrible recruiter, and that he got no credit for a recruit's commitment. That exact recruit gushed about the relationship with Ellarby being a huge reason for his commitment. When presented with that contradiction, the response was not an "I'll wear it when I'm wrong", it was "I know what I know. I'll double down and mention supposed behind the scenes drama so that it's no longer behind the scenes. You can either trust me or the actual recruit. Maybe I've said too much. I'll leave."

That was the context of the comment you quoted, and it in no way hinted the belief that two statements can't both be true.

I'd just as soon let this drop, as I'm not wanting to crucify the poster in question. He's a good poster with good info most of the time. Some here just disagree with how he posts at times, largely due to a differing idea from the norm as to what's best for the program in the big picture as opposed to a never-ending appetite for supposed insider info.
Was just saying it’s my opinion and not anything to do with you or anyone else. I was trying to make a simple statement.

You have to be willfully ignorant to think Glen Elarbee can't recruit. Do you think we got the OL we have assembled right now through osmosis? Some other coach is actually coaching our OL and recruits and transfers know about it but we all think it's that bum Glen Elarbee? I don't understand why so many of our. "fans" need for our coaches to be bums! Y'all do this with Pope and Willie too and 99% of teams in the country would trade their coach for either of those guys in a heartbeat. Elarbee too. The news is GOOD! We have GOOD coaches actually! You're wasting time chasing misery instead of appreciating how good we actually have it!
Think what you want. He gets help. He’s a good enough developer that it’s ok. I’m not ignorant willfully or otherwise. You do you. But you are ignorant if you think lead recruiters are always the position coach.

So, have a little free time today, so turned on the game, as I was at the game and didn’t get to see it from the TV perspective. Just noticed that Moi actually grabbed at his elbow the play before he went down (I think he was fighting off a double team). He adjusted his sleeve some and then lined up for the next play. Then he stayed down grabbing his elbow. I hope it’s not his tricep, because he was grabbing at the back of his arm just above the elbow where the triceps tendon attaches to the top of the olecranon of the ulna.
And some think you only know about horses
