Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I was checking the Gator boards to get the pulse of the fan base after beating a nobody and it is not exactly what I was expecting. Some trepidation in the fan base.

"I don’t enjoy watching WR’s not get open vs LIU

I don’t enjoy watching our OL give up -11 TFL’s"
These past few years have given them Battered Gator Syndrome . I’m glad most of us have recovered. I’m ready for BGS(Battered Gump syndrome) to kick in.

Things change in a hurry when the program is in a perceived death spiral. And asking for money for NIL to potentially boost what's already elite recruiting isn't really comparable to buying out what they perceive as a coach who is killing the program. There's skepticism/lack of urgency surrounding NIL in Tuscaloosa when they already recruit extremely well without huge $$$ and have a history of reeling off No. 1 classes.
Hopefully they continue this death spiral and one side is proven right in the near future. Imo, he isn't going anywhere with a buyout that big. Bama could be looking for any possible way to get out of that contract.

Just saw an Alabama Moderator ask a fan why on Earth Dan Lanning would leave Oregon and all that money for Bama and no money. I couldn't believe he said that.
Bama job is middle of the pack in the sec new era going forward NIL etc. another mediocre 9-4 or worse season and the top 5 classes every year are no more

Here is the problem. Say you fire this guy after two seasons, you had to give this dude nearly 100 million guaranteed just to take the job. What's the pool going to look like to replace him? How would the contract situation be any different? And how willing will boosters be to chuck up another 100 million to hire the next guy?
It won’t be the AD firing him. It will be the boosters demanding that he be fired.

Yeah, whatever is the worst outcome for Bama is what I'm cheering for, lol.

I guess it's possible he survives 7-5 if the Bama brass decides they can't stomach his buyout after just two seasons and instead they say "fire your coordinators and go hire anyone you want" in the hopes that he's still a good head coach who is just hampered by assistants.

But if they believe it's a culture problem under him, and it seems to be trending that way, he's toast. If he miraculously makes it to 2026, he will be on "can be fired at anytime, including mid-season" hotseat alert.

The problem with trying to weasel out of the buyout via some invented scandal is that it makes the job even more toxic.

Personally I think boosters will fork over huge money because there's going to be a lot of jockeying for position to be the guy/in the group of guys who "save" Bama football. And that's actually going to make things even more toxic in Tuscaloosa because it's going to lead to power struggles instead of everyone just lining up behind Saban.
