Updated National Weather Service (NWS) forecast for the game on Saturday. I would bring some rain gear for this one. Hopefully the timing of the precipitation continues to move up with more activity in the morning. Still not a slam dunk that there is rain during the game, but it has been trending that way this week.

I've got the UTEP game on in my office while I work. The o-line wasn't great. Cooper was solid but still got pushed around at times. Heard was up and down. Both guards and RT were so inconsistent. Heupel's system and Sampson’s talent really made up for the lack of talent on the o-line. That group is much more talented across the board now and we haven't even seen Sanders yet. It's exciting to think about Heupel's system with the talent and depth we seem to have on the o-line now.

The other obvious issue, and I'm sure everyone will be surprised, is that Nico held the passing game back so much. If his first read wasn't open, done. If he had pressure, done. Multiple over-throws (shocker). Watching this game really illustrates how much different this offense looks when your QB can actually go through progressions, step into the pocket, not panick, and just do the fundamental things a QB should be able to do.

I like the optimism. I'd still be happier if we had one less secondary and one less interior d-lineman hurt.

Speaking of - how fortuitous was landing Hood? He was almost an afterthought for some.

Retaining Boo seems pretty important also.
