Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Also believe people are overlooking Gunner Stockton of Georgia. Played in a CFP game vs Notre Dame and played reasonably well for his first start.
Georgia's biggest issue won't be qb. They have to get back to running the ball, last year it was all on Lerch.

How can you give up so easily? I know, I know because “realistic expectations.”

Well screw all of that. You absolutely can’t lose a game that hasn’t started yet! How many people gave Tennessee no chance in 1998?

I refuse to concede a game before the season even starts. And you know what? If we do lose one, it won’t slow my roll one effing bit.

Being a VFL is one of my happy places. I don’t have to be realistic. I put the FANATIC in fan.

This is our year! The college football world doesn’t know it yet but I do.

Tennessee parted ways with a me first flash in the pan (just pay attention to his performance this year). Now Tennessee has a TEAM. The players all have chips on their shoulders. If you doubt that, jut listen to the interviews. There is not one single coach or player that agrees with a 24th preseason ranking nor the 9th place finish in the SEC. Hell, all the realism has me pissed off enough already.

Jump on the damn train or get off the effing tracks!

17-0 🤠
Doc is chewing nails and spitting tacks👊🏻🍊

If we lose to Georgia it won't be because Gunner Stockton lit us up.

That game comes down to Heupel's offense vs Kirby's defense. Kirby seems to prefer game manager QB types, hasn't recruited a top 100 overall QB but 4 times while there, and Brock was the last one in the 2021 class.

And Jake Fromm of the 4 top 100 guys he did recruit is also the only one to finish his career at Georgia.
I have full confidence in Bowl Cut's ability to screw up his quarterback situation. He has a real knack for running off his best quarterbacks.

I get that. He sat behind a guy drafted in the 3rd round. Milroe was limited as a passer but he did rush for 700+ yards last season and 20 TDs which is crazy.

I don’t even think Simpson will be awesome. I’m just not on the Lagway bandwagon.
Ty Simpson will be average to suck and Lagway will not play half of Foriduh's games. By the time we play the Lot Lizards they will be on their third string qb.

He didn't throw a pick six and only had one fumble, although ND scored the next play after taking over on Georgia's 13 because of that sack/fumble.

But their offense with Gunner was complete ass.
That’s right. Thought it was an INT but it was a fumble. If they don’t do that, they likely win. And their offense was ass with him.

Something that has really annoyed me about Neyland for decades..

when we play the 3PM games, shadows overtake half the field making viewing difficult..

Danny, if you would would you put up a big sunscreen on the sunny side..or rotate stadium 90 degrees..Thanks in advance.

He should just take control of the sun with the amount of money he is charging! Come on Danny! Control the sun!

I am not buying this new "we don't have WRs" debate either.

Travis Smith Jr. - 18th rated WR in 2025 class
Radarious Jackson - 30th rated WR in 2025 class
Amari Jefferson - 33rd rated WR in 2024 class
Mike Matthews - 9th rated WR in 2024 class
Braylon Staley - 15th rated WR in 2024 class
Chris Brazzell - 18th rated transfer WR in 2024 class

OL gives protection and you get a QB that knows wtf they're doing and you'll have WRs looking like studs.

Bru McCoy with Hooker throwing = stud
White looked like he was destined to be a beast with Hooker and even had a good year with Joe
Ramel Keyton as well

Nico was more of the problem than staff wanted to admit, even now with him gone they won't make those excuses or place blame. Just not how Heupel operates...but you don't handle the offseason the way we did IF he's a legit 1st round QB talent.
Let’s see the new guys! I am excited about our WRs’ potential!

No problem. We long ago switched sidelines so our team is in the shade.

I’ve had a few different people tell me today and I even heard sports talk. Jay talk about it on his YouTube show that there was a $35 million donation made to the football program over the weekend. Has anyone else heard the same?
I wrote them a check but also told them not to cash it while I'm still alive :) :) :)

Was that wrong

Won in Gainesville in 1953, 1955, 1971, 2001, 2003. That's it. We beat them in Tampa or Jacksonville and another thing our fanbase gets wrong is our bad luck against them really goes back further than the 90's. 13-32 since Neyland left. 9-0 before.

4-6 against them between 1953 and 1990 when we started playing them every year. SEC champ Vols lost to them in the Gator bowl, then lost Dickey. Lost to them four times in a row, 76' 77' 84' 85', before the 1990 butt whipping we gave them.

May Aguilar exercise the demons please.
Their '85 win really didn't count for anything. Their team was ineligible for anything because they had been bought & paid for, and all manner of other cheating that (I think) Charlie Pell and Galen Hall were perpetrating. Even the game itself had some highly controversial officiating if I remember correctly. Had no impact on conference standings or Sugar Bowl selection. That game was the start of my hatred for UF and is likely part of the reason why Majors lambasted them so badly in '90.

I hope we hang 100 on them this year and every year.

I understand why fans get upset about price increases, but the pure hatred a large portion of the fanbase has for “Danny Dimes” will always seem crazy to me. College athletics changed forever the moment NIL became a thing, and Danny is only doing what he can to keep us competitive. Winning isn’t cheap. If we start losing on a grand scale, prices will adjust some because interest will drop.

The shifting landscape of college sports also doesn’t even take into account that just every single thing is increasing in price year over year. So, regardless of success, why wouldn’t luxury items like attending a football game increase as well? You don’t have to like it, I don’t. It sucks that a family of 4 has to take out a mortgage to go to a football game. I just don’t think this is something that the evil “Danny Dimes” is doing because he hates the fans. It’s just kind of how things are in the era of NIL and inflation.
I bet a large portion of fans pi$$ing and moaning about price increases never attend games. They're probably band wagon fans who just complain about what they hear or read in a forum.

Too much work. Just do cloud seeding to block the rays over downtown.

Yep. Ticket price increase is such a small factor for me. The real cost of going to a game is dealing with the traffic afterwards lol
