Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

August 20, 2025: There is a fine line between what you can effectively accomplish and what you can do nothing about. Set your heart to do the best you can where you can, and leave the rest to Me, says the Lord. And, be sure to mind your own business. 1 Thessalonians 4:11 that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you.

The schedule is not easier.

@bama and FL and Oklahoma has John Mateer.
How fast can Mateer run? Is he accurate passing while running for his life? Oklahoma is dreading the game in Neyland Stadium.

The schedule is easier because Tennessee is going to be much better this year. No more first 1/2 Goose Eggs. No more struggling to get 200 yards passing in a game. The offense is going to resemble 22 while the defense will be 24 re-incarnate. Just wait and see.

OU has upgraded substantially at QB and will easily have better weapons on offense.

We haven't come close to beating UGA.

We haven't won at Florida and Alabama since 2003. Its a harder schedule.

3 whole games that have been automatic losses and we have to deal with better QB play from most everyone we play.
How can you give up so easily? I know, I know because “realistic expectations.”

Well screw all of that. You absolutely can’t lose a game that hasn’t started yet! How many people gave Tennessee no chance in 1998?

I refuse to concede a game before the season even starts. And you know what? If we do lose one, it won’t slow my roll one effing bit.

Being a VFL is one of my happy places. I don’t have to be realistic. I put the FANATIC in fan.

This is our year! The college football world doesn’t know it yet but I do.

Tennessee parted ways with a me first flash in the pan (just pay attention to his performance this year). Now Tennessee has a TEAM. The players all have chips on their shoulders. If you doubt that, jut listen to the interviews. There is not one single coach or player that agrees with a 24th preseason ranking nor the 9th place finish in the SEC. Hell, all the realism has me pissed off enough already.

Jump on the damn train or get off the effing tracks!

There are exceptions. I'm not as familiar with them. but you still have to abide by the laws and seasons.

General Requirement:
A Tennessee hunting license is necessary for hunting most game, including foxes, regardless of whether it's public or private land.

BUT to save too much digging there is still the "in season" requirement, although much harder to enforce if you're hunting your own land and not tagging kills.

I wasn't giving up, I was just making the point that this year's schedule is harder than last year.

But we will be better. Especially offensively. Especially...at QB.

I am not buying this new "we don't have WRs" debate either.

Travis Smith Jr. - 18th rated WR in 2025 class
Radarious Jackson - 30th rated WR in 2025 class
Amari Jefferson - 33rd rated WR in 2024 class
Mike Matthews - 9th rated WR in 2024 class
Braylon Staley - 15th rated WR in 2024 class
Chris Brazzell - 18th rated transfer WR in 2024 class

OL gives protection and you get a QB that knows wtf they're doing and you'll have WRs looking like studs.

Bru McCoy with Hooker throwing = stud
White looked like he was destined to be a beast with Hooker and even had a good year with Joe
Ramel Keyton as well

Nico was more of the problem than staff wanted to admit, even now with him gone they won't make those excuses or place blame. Just not how Heupel operates...but you don't handle the offseason the way we did IF he's a legit 1st round QB talent.

Looking at the schedule again...I could really see us winning every game.

Most worried about at Florida, because it's the swamp and we've really not won there in ages...but it's now a November game so that big advantage of heat/humidity that it being a September game gave is out the door.

Georgia at home for game 3 after they've ran through 2 cupcakes...yeah I like it. Give them the first reality check of the year.

And at Bama without Saban and with Ty Simpson or whoever they have at QB by then isn't a worry either.

OU shouldn't even be ranked...we're game 4 of a gauntlet before they get their bye and it's here...I like our chances there too.

I've never had a hunting license (except for the small game that comes with fishing) in my life. I have hunted deer, stray dogs, predators, and whatever and never had any issues.

Dude the recievers are beyond talented. They are just always hurt and have little or no production.

Yeah but we haven't won at Bama is just as long as FL. We have two curses that desperately need breaking.

I'm not a believer in Ty Simpson and Lagway could be hurt.

Gunner Stockton though? He looks average af and I do not get why people are so high on him. Worst QB they have had in a while and we are his first road start.
