Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I liked football better when all it took to have top players was a SS Camaro from Beaty Chevrolet and a few hand$hakes or free tacos. Handing out millions and subsequently having ticket prices increasing exponentially for some nincompoop and his fatass dad leave cause the millions they got wasn’t enough just doesn’t make for fairness.

We’re paying for an uncapped arms race, not necessarily production. Full-time free agency too. This is the worst pro model anyone could dream up. It’s creating a bubble and I’m not going to be sad to see it burst.
I did, too, but as my kids continue to enjoy watching the games with me, I will continue to watch. My dad did it with me (not just UT). He took me to see BC at Notre Dame and Memphis at Michigan when I was a teenager. Different times, but the connection makes memories.

We are in the here and now. Life is too short, and I take each year at a time. 12 more days to start another season.

Maybe some others too, but LSU has made losing opening games an art form. They'll be looking for a new head coach again soon.

I agree…just LSU stuck out to me a lot more..same thing with Texas..the hype behind arch is insane..too many people are taking the + side on each of these games heavily Iowa st,Texas,LSU and Northwestern

ETSU, UAB, and NM St will be more affordable. And I've had a great time at games like that back when I did have season tickets.

The least expensive place to see us play an SEC game is prolly at KenSucky or at Starkville. I wouldn't sleep on the Syracuse game, either, for a bigger opponent. And it is really fun to win on the road, as most of you prolly know.

I’ve had a few different people tell me today and I even heard sports talk. Jay talk about it on his YouTube show that there was a $35 million donation made to the football program over the weekend. Has anyone else heard the same?
Yeah...found a little change in my couch. No biggie.

Every elite 11 QB prospect is a 7 on 7 phenom.

Im over Nico. Im ready to rock with JA. But Nico played normal high school football and did it at a high level. I dont really understand 7 on 7 but every top rated QB, WR, and DB are participating in 7 on 7
Justin Worley played high school ball at an extremely high level. Not everyone makes the jump at QB

Gotta love fans that want it all. They want to win at a high level, they want a brand new baseball stadium to keep Tony, they want to get the highest level of recruits to commit to us in football….the list goes on. And they want it all for the same price pre-NIL and back when Dooley was the coach and no one attend games.

I know it sucks, and I’m sure some will just call me a sheep for “Danny Dimes” but I just don’t know what the answer is when the cost of everything to compete is the increasing.

The good news is you can get like a 65” OLED TV and surround sound for dirt cheap these days and your home theater experience will likely be better than going to the game and at a fraction of the price lol.
Best part of watching the game at home is I decide who I watch it with. Caustic fans who constantly criticize the coaches and players has really lowered my desire to attend games.

Agree

Some things I have pondered.

Aguilar has more on field production than Hendon, Milton or Nico. Worse arm than all 3, but likely more accuracy than Joe and Nico on deep ball. Less running ability than Hendon or Nico. He has similar WR corp to Nico, but Worse than Hendon. Better defense than Hendon and Milton. OL is likely most talented and RB is maybe a slight step back or push.

I do think the scheme is an important part of what makes the offense go, especially in 2022. Spreading the field vertically and horizontally, having fast WRs (or at least one burner with great hands), and having an accurate QB who can hit deep balls is basically impossible to consistently defend unless you have an elite pass rush and elite DBs. That's how UGA held us in check in 2022.

But Heupel doesn't have to have all of those to win, as evidenced in 23 and 24. And to me, what he did those seasons basically on the fly is the most impressive thing he has done at UT. More than all of 2022. His offense didn't work and he adapted and still won games. Many, many coaches would have fallen apart or insisted on making their scheme work.
Agreed
