Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I get confused on what is acceptable to discuss in preseason. We can still have an ok season, but have questions about a thin wr room and a qb battle at this time right? In the current environment a playoff birth could hinge on a single extra loss. So it isn't just people hand wringing a bad season it could be more like Ole Miss's season last year. They had a ton of talent in a lot of positions too.

Just my 2 cents
You can only discuss wins. No losses.

Vols are ranked 18th in the coaches poll. Not to be negative but I am stunned thought we would be in the other receiving votes section
Not wild, but a bit on the high end of the range I expected. I thought 10th-15th if Nico stayed. 18th-25th as it stands.

#18 would be a sensible place to finish the season if we go 9-4.

I've known a few senators, and they absolutely didn't have a killer instinct. All of them had money, knew people with money, had name recognition in the district, and knew people in party leadership. They had no spine. You watch too much TV and movies and assume it's a cutthroat battle of clever geniuses trying to outwit each other on a political chess board.

There are a few masterminds in party leadership, but almost all the senators are wealthy, connected people who are willing to toe the party the line. And they'd love someone like Dooley who will do what he's told and have enough money and popularity behind him to keep getting elected and voting the way the party wants.
So you’re taking your knowledge of a few senators, and claiming that applies to all politicians and that my counter opinion is based on me watching too much tv and movies. Cool, man. Good conversation.

Go Vols!

Lol I didn't say my knowledge of politicians was exclusively limited to those few senators I've known.

Pretty absymal counterpoint you provided though. Nothing like empty, vapid snark to validate my suspicion your viewpoint isn't grounded in anything real.

Have a good day, man.

I start by saying, I am all for anyone making as much money as they possibly can, no matter how much that amount may grow to be...especially if they are (in short) good at heart, work very hard, and take care of many. If someone can become a billionaire, my hat is off to you. And, I say this as the very definition of blue-collar. I built oil and gas pipelines for 20 years all over this country, as a member of Local 2 Sewer & Tunnel Minors Union, Chicagoland.

I've always lived by what my mom says...she being a woman who has education and nursing degrees, and has spent 45 years of her life either teaching kids or helping the sick. She always said, "Never had a job, that a poor man gave me". So, Im all about getting what you can get...especially, as i said, you work hard to get it.

But, this is not my commentary on money, class, economics, politics...none of that. I say all of that to say this...

Heard the other day on a podcast; and, I will also state, i have no idea if any of this is true, but...

Within a decade, there will be 5 trillionaires. With a trillion dollars, you could buy:

Every single NFL franchise, NBA franchise, every MLB and NHL franchise...3 times. Leaving you with enough money to buy Ford, GM, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell.

After all of that, you'd still be worth $10 BILLION.

Most people can't wrap their minds around $1 Billion. A trillion?? No one can compute that...more than likely, even the trillionaires themselves.

That's insane.

What I’m hearing is that we need one of these trillionaires for our NIL efforts.

Agreed.

First fantasy football draft of the year. Dynasty rookie draft tonight. Traded up for the second overall pick. Adding Omarion Hampton to my team. Going to be a good season.
