Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

The whole Boo Carter situation is weird. Curious to what really is the issue with him missing workouts/meetings over the summer.

Would definitely love to have him this upcoming season so hopefully everything works itself out. If not, I wonder if Hood can play Star.
Not going to summer workouts and doing whatever you want is more fun than going to summer workouts. My guess is that would be about the extent of Boo's thought process.

The whole part about leaving millions of dollars on the table to do that... Well that requires a level of sense that Boo and his Rhodes Scholar of a mother may not possess.

Are we not going to talk about this? It is not political.

The title "President Donald J. Trump Saves College Sports" tells you everything you need to know if you're smart enough to recognize bullsh**. It's just another politician hardly lifting a finger and claiming to have done something great when they haven't really done anything at all.

no urgency. what compounds the frustration is we know we have money and resources.
No even sure it’s urgency. Just lack of wherewithal and cut throat recruiting. You don’t see this happen at DL, LB, or RB. It happens at our weakest recruiters spots and that has to change. We can be elite by upgrading a few coaches but that’s not Heupels style. Which is why I think his ceiling will be ten win seasons and we will always be around 8-10 wins. That means we have a damn good coach but we shall see if he does what it takes to be elite. Love Heup but he has to change to become elite IMO.

We had that safety from Charlotte we were looking at bringing in. Makes no sense we didn't.

Is it most likely Bol leaves and just doesn't play college football this year? Feel like they'll figure it out.
Boo will likely be starting at Colorado next year. NCAA is a joke and these kids know they can just leave at any moment and go somewhere. It’s free agency.

I thought Hubbs brought up a good point on the podcast. Several coaches on the offensive side of the ball have expiring contracts this year. Without digging I am not sure who they are, but I assume its Pope and Halzle.

Much worse injury than just that.

It still baffles me how we didn’t target more DBs and WRs in the portal windows. And I know we got hood but we needed safety help bad and could have used more depth at CB.

If Boo is gone (most likely), we are a couple injuries away from looking at 7-8 wins. And that’s with a pretty easy SEC schedule.
The coaches have no one to blame but themselves. We are left with 76 scholarships filled this year if Boo really is gone, when our cap is 82 including the ncaa violations. It truly doesn’t make sense. People will be like “oh we didn’t want to pay starter money for someone who wasn’t gonna be a starter” well that’s just the recruiting world we live in now, and if that’s what all the other National Championship contenders are doing, then we should too. And we could’ve targeted more hs players as well to fill the depth voids

Let’s hope. Upgrade.

When Heupel has hired new coaches from outside, he has nailed them. Inge is a stud.

Upgrade OC and Wr coach and we are cooking. I think everyone will actually Coach E after this year and how good they are on OL.

It’s going to be the inevitable promote a ga from within just watch

I’m not gonna absolve boos mom of her responsibility and being the original at fault party, just like boo and even more so for him if he did the things being speculated.

Just would like better damage control and media writers that aren’t interested in pieces that can’t help the program unless it needs to be reported. Most potentially bad stuff doesn’t.

Nobody I trust more than Donde and Danny on this front. Just hope we get enough momentum to where people fall in line. So far still somehow people perceived to be close to the program who haven’t.
Idk anywhere that has writers that straight up protect their program. Even Georgia doesn’t really have that. Alabama did with Saban there, we’ll see if it lasts. They definitely didn’t before he got there.

99% of the time, I’d agree with you. But in this case, we’re dealing with a corrupt and incompetent NCAA that ignored the issue for decades and is now powerless to stop anything. Regardless of how you feel about NIL, what’s happening right now isn’t good for the sport. Look around. Schools across the country are selling their souls to private equity just to keep up with NIL. That’s not sustainable .At this point, some level of government action might be necessary just to keep the whole thing from collapsing.
Talk about the blind leading the blind!!

I don’t understand why politics and politicians have to be involved in every aspect of our lives.
If the NCAA had been a competent organization, a lot of this confusion could have been avoided.
