1940? holy ****

Yeah, mid-30's to 1940 was the golden age of Miss State football. From about 1917 through WW2 all students had to do 2 years of ROTC and military strategy coursework and physical fitness. It was one of the schools helping the military churn out trained officers because the academies couldn't keep up. Just prior to WW2, Miss State was designated to do air force training for the Army and they still have Air Force ROTC.

When WW2 started that essentially put all their athletics on hold and took their best athletes and coaches (similar to how we lost General Neyland for the time) and their athletics never really recovered after the war. They had great basketball teams in the 60s iirc, but their fanbase mostly cared about baseball after that.

I disagree. I think we need another PG to split time with ZZ, and I don't think BJE comes in ready to do that. I think we have a good team, but we still need help at the point. Other than that, you always want dynamic players, so if Philips or someone else wants to jump on board, great. But in order to make a run in the tournament, we need that extra PG. We're good, but add to the pieces we have returning and we can be great.

Honestly, I wish KC had followed Tshiebwe's lead at KY and came back for another year. THAT would have been awesome IMO.

You disagree with a computer who's rankings are based off stats? Too each their own. I'm not a Barnes fan by any means but next years team isn't bad at all.
