That is not generational money. To be set, you can hardly retire with $2 million, much less at 20 years old. After taxes, that’s roughly 1.4 anyway and even less if he decides to go to Cali.
Damn man...I could live awesomely on just the gain on investment. You must like living high on the hog.

Recency bias again and again. 130 years of Vol football and we are done. Been reading post after post for weeks of the same stuff said different ways. Might be a little too early to go into hospice with BVS.

If the rules changed with the transfer portal and then NIL, why will they not change more in the future? What is now will not necessarily be in the future. The current elites with access to big bucks for NIL have already done what they need to do with the other aspects of their programs. UT is a step or two behind, but is executing their plan. Field of dreams. Build it first, then they will come. Meanwhile, anticipate the future changes and be ready to take advantage.

Will the BVS change when the Vols make the SECCG? That's elite status BTW. If you make that you are NC playoff FF quality. Just this season I saw a team that was 4-5 players away, another year of development in the system, and having fair officials from being able to do that.
That is all true.

I only purchase a certain type of firearm accessory that I feel meshes with the overall culture of my armament collection.

Now in the past, I was known to shell out big bucks for some less than reputable products. But in recent years, from pocket knives to long rifles, I’ve tried to build my collection the right way, with less expensive (and maybe a bit less flashy), but high quality equipment.

Some may say I’ve given up on being a serious outdoorsman, but I think in the long run it will prove to be a more sustainable path to achieving my goals.
Lol..sharp..😏

I will care because I have always cared. I will care because of players like Eric Berry, Trey Smith, still care and bleed orange. I will care because there is no place in the world better than Neyland Stadium on a Fall afternoon. I will care because of the joy that following this program has brought me over the years. I will care because Georgia, Florida and Bama will always suck. I will care because John Ward described the game better than anyone else. I will care because there is no place in the world that is better to live than in Tennessee. I will care because I am loyal. I will care because we are everywhere. I will care because Vol Twitter makes the rest of the world hate us. I will care because I am A Volunteer.
🤩 Hell yeah!

I saw what you did there

This is a huge part of it. TV revenue is so good right now. There's no reason to try when youll still get paid regardless

TV Revenue is incidental. Fans cite it all the time because it's highly publicized but it is a tiny portion of what the AD brings in. If it went away tomorrow UT wouldn't feel it. Smaller schools like OM or State might but it wouldn't kill them.

Just caught up this morning….Looks like we are going to let the “dust settle” on NIL. To the average fan, it would appear it’s all about money. Those who spend the most will outperform those who do not.

We appear to be taking a wait and see approach ….. a more long term approach to see how all of this settles.

If I were to be on the financial support side of this equation ( and I am not), I would appreciate that approach. I cannot see investing hundreds of thousands to millions on 17 year old kids. These people become wealthy beings smart. Most did not become rich scheming there way to the top. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The NIL game has just started.

For what it’s worth (and it is not much), I like where we are and where we are headed (In all sports !!). Let’s work the portal to fill needs, invest where it seems prudent and coach them up!!

In other words...we are screwed. We are going to be David and Goliathing this in perpetuity. 🤦‍♂️ I love that in a way, but it would be nice to think you would have a real shot at a title sometimes.

That is both encouraging and disheartening, but I'm a Vol till I die..win or lose.
I don’t think it means that at all….. I feel like our program has been an absolute mess and kids are hesitant to come here until we prove we have our sh$t together….A lot of our fans are wanting us to go from 3 win being on probation to Alabama…. Georgia in a season…. We are building a solid foundation and as more confidence grows in what we are doing….. the more kids will notice and want to join.

As for our boosters…. I don’t blame them for being hesitant with as much of their money UT has wasted over the years…. Look at baseball…. TV gave everyone a reason to be excited and more money flew into that program than had happened in years. We have one of the best ADs in the country…. It feels like everyone is starting to push in the same direction…. All of our programs appear to be growing and headed in the right direction…. I’m excited about UT athletics for the first time in years.

Y’all ever use vortex scopes? Where I hunt I need to be able to make 300 yard shots. I need an affordable scope that has good magnification. Vortex is what I’ve seen recommended
Meh. Good warranty but that’s because you’ll need it. Hard to beat any European optics, SWFA, nightforce or Burris.

He's only +2 over Richt because of how much turmoil Florida & UT have been these last few years.

Since 2016 when Kirby showed up, Florida is now on their 3rd HC (Jim, Dan, now Billy) and we're on our 3rd (Butch, Pruitt, now Heupel). Richt feasted in the East for a period when Fulmer was in his decline & Florida had Zook, then Florida landed Urban and Richt wasn't able to do much else...Kirby is feasting (but still not won a title, just like Richt) so whenever us or Florida hit on our next big time coach he'll be back to winning 10 or 11 and missing the championship.

So we have hit on our next big coach NOW! Let the gators wander in misery for a decade (at least). I am okay with uga being 2nd or 3rd in the East. Who’s with me? Let’s do this!

15-0 🤠

The University of Tennessee, by name, was set in 1879. The school had previously been named Blount College, East Tennessee College, and East Tennessee University. The Texas Constitution chartered and named the University of Texas in 1876 and the school officially opened in 1883.

Our original school started before the University of Texas was even a state, but the school names are closer in dates.

Please keep that to yourself. The longhorns are too smug and lazy to actually do that research. They have no answer to 1794 vs 1883… if they still persist, they are speechless when I tell them that Tennessee grads fought in the Alamo to take Texas away from Mexico 🤠

A&M is lucky. This will be there best class ever. Took advantage in year one and we’re ready to pounce.

This will be table stakes next year and even out. Unless your AD can’t get it together then you will be way behind.

Aggies set a standard that they can’t live up to. Unless they can sling that money every year, they will die by the mercenaries jumping ship as soon as the cash flow slows down. It’s going to bite them in the ass big time.
I hope that they figure it out before texas joins the SEC. I absolutely don’t want texas to become a remotely strong team. I want them to have vandy level success 😈

There’s absolutely no reason to spend the amount of money Texas A&M is spending, it doesn’t mean wins.

There’s multiple examples of where spending every dime you have doesn’t translate to championships. I don’t see how it’s going to work long term. I would guess that a lot of those deals are performance based, so the minute these kids aren’t playing and can’t get there money, they’ll transfer.

Big Ben wins his last game at Heinz in true Big Ben fashion. Owning the Browns. What a career. Wish he had one last playoff run, but most legends tend to go out with a whimper unfortunately.

It’s crazy to think that Brady is really the last of the “old guard”. Once he retires, all of the QBs I grew up watching in my formative years will be officially gone. Arguably the greatest QB generation, too.

Manning(s), Brady, Big Ben, Brees, Rivers, etc. Just so much talent.
He's really touched a lot of people in his career

They also didn’t get a QB commit in this class. They did get Max Johnson from the warmed meatloaf section of the portal but I don’t think he is it. QB position had been their Achilles heel before and since Manziel and it looks like it will continue to be an issue….
