What sort of context is there to that though? That's a pretty wide net, especially with 4 major sites now out there. I mean, by the composite - basically an average - it's 7 out of 20.

Just sayin...I've seen a stat like that before mentioned, but then you look at other teams classes and a lot more can claim such high numbers too as well. So a ~50% true blue chip class (composite, for instance) suddenly becomes an "80% blue chip" class. Sort of loses its meaning in a way...or at least needs a new set of context. Js but yes a pretty good end to the first half of the recruiting cycle regardless.
You either believe these kids are "blue chip" good or you don't...what the services say about them is f'n irrelevant to me now. I have seen so many high fours and fives suck at Tennessee over the last decade that It doesn't faze me anymore.

Uh - the sky is not falling in recruiting. Imagine that. Crickets from the cheap seats. NIL will be handled. We have Danny White and Randy Boyd. Heup knows what to do.

We really do have a new age HC and staff. They actually do know what they are doing. Another season of success after some quality development and the NCAA thing in the rear view will solve the talent upgrade image issue. I see it as an image issue, not reality. A 3* can be as good or better than a 5* frequently - when developed properly and inserted at the right time. Our staff knows this because the class they signed reflects this - upside. This is a measured approach to building a program, not a sprint to see who can get there first. We started at the back of the pack, so it is an endurance run. But they still plan to win the race as soon as they can.

On D we have Tim Banks, Rodney Garner, Brian Jean-Mary and I am glad to be proven wrong - Willie. I have loved what PSU's D does schematically for years. Their D kept Franklin in his job. Cowboy fans now know how a Micah Parsons can disrupt an O in a properly designed scheme. Enter Joshua Josephs. Tim has a solid plan and I am excited. We have Rodney. Did I say we have Rodney?

Every single D signing has intent. They were signed to play a position or to be a swing into multiple positions. None were signed as D players to be moved to O. If a guy doesn't cut it on D after a couple years that may happen, but will be more likely the guy will transfer out with the new rules.

Not going to talk O coaches - they 100% proved themselves last season. On O they added size/length/good feet/intelligence in the O-line so that we have quality OT's going forward. Interior guys can be had and made into quality players. OT's must have the referenced. What has been our biggest O-line issue for what seems forever? Quality OT's.

RB - stocked. Kamara version 2.0 with world class speed and UGA style RB in Williams. Check.

Receiver - wow. Just wow. Fits at every position with great upside. They all stayed the course and signed. What does that tell you about their belief in CJH and his system?

QB - yeah. That guy with all the throws and mobility with great upside. Proven winner from a proven winning family. We are good here.

OK, the prednisone is wearing down and so will I. Thanks for listening if you did, it helped me to get a lot off my mind.

Personally - I'm just going to ignore the BVS and Nega posts from here on out, just not most of the posters. I value real Vol fans, not the trolls. We all are due our own views and its a message board. I do not view all negative posts as trolling. I think we all know who is doing that and who just has a half empty view of the world. I live with one like that. We need some counterbalance in our lives to grow.

Which is my Christmas wish for all. Grow. Learn more, do more, have faith. The vast majority on here are orange blooded to their core or they would not be here after what we have collectively seen over the last 20 years. Value the posters who bring nugs even if they turn out wrong occasionally. Don't denigrate them and run them away. They are trying to help us. Highly value the posters who actually know football analytically and schematically, - you know who they are. Value the coaches on here (yep - there are some) who know the game, or the average fan who has slogged along learning a bit as they go. They add value that is important. You can take the information, process it, and use it or toss it. Again, it's a message board.

Let's grow and learn more about the sport we love and the orange while having fun and lifting up instead beating down. We are entering a great period for Vol football - a tradition like none other. Heup knows that. He's not going anywhere anytime soon. It's the opportunity of a lifetime and we all know it. Figuratively, run through the T with your BO gear on. Picture what that is like for the players and coaches. Let's make it a great experience for them and us.

Peace - out. Have great day, friends.

It goes much deeper than that. The media loves to down Tennessee. Coaches and NPA love to send them anywhere but Tennessee. The recruits would not even give them a chance. All we hear about is where the recruits in the state are going, and everyone panic. Tennessee nor any other school HAS to get players from the state. Recruits do not HAVE to go to a school in state. We did just fine without them so hopefully we can move on from this.

Yep.
People freak about in-state because they assume teams start with an advantage and drop the ball. As implied, it's almost the exact opposite with TN kids.

The toxic involvement by some and hate-hate media relations, make it harder.
Fully agree, those content being told what to think and refusing to even come check for themselves, aren't necessary. Bring in the talent that wants to be here.

Agree with all 3 of your long posts this morning (sorry you’re sick!). Best part of yesterday was the combination of good players & fit. While I think we would’ve taken Evans or Nolen if the price was right (& they wanted to come here), I feel like the guys we signed are going to mesh. Someone posted yesterday that it feels like the way Barnes has built basketball & I agree with that.

Swain said that Tyler Baron said he is moving over from DE. Have y’all discussed this possibility already? I’m curious how much weight he will need to add and if he could be effective in that role. I’m always wary when a player has to transform their body to fit a new role.

IMO, if it happens it is due to injuries.

Hammer meet nail! Great write up of everything in your last 3 posts! I was trying to wait on this one until I posted the Rock clapping gif but wasn’t sure when you were posting this. I do not have anymore worries with this staff. We have finally turned the corner on terrible and questionable hires. We saw red flags early on with our last few hires, but we wanted to ignore them because we needed them to succeed. I have not seen one single red flag with this staff all year. And then what we did yesterday proved we have the right guy even more. We have this ship back afloat and back on course in the right direction. We all need to row in the same direction so we can continue picking more and more steam. Exciting times to be a Vol fan. GBO!!

Spot on. I agree we would have taken them, our staff worked hard to get them.

Barnes and Voltello method. It works.

no college DT or RB is worth 5 figure. too many variables. ROI is one year? Pffffft.

Glad you stuck it out, bud. There will always be bumps in the road to overcome. It's just now we know they will be overcome. Time to have fun and enjoy it.

That later point is the same point Heup and Danny White keep making. Hmmm...

Urban wishes they had fired him 2 weeks ago and he could be setting up shop in Gainesville. I do not think too many schools will fool with this fraud from here on out. But Fla would

Dude is just a culture nightmare.

Got away with it longer in college, where the kids were completely under his shadow and he was the most important person in the room.
But the NFL setting exposed his azz, quick!
