Our performance expectations for 2021 right now are based off last years teams performance. That roster was much better than a 3-7 team and I think we see flashes of that next season.

The number of players that leave after spring practice will go a long way to determine how good or bad we are, in my opinion.

If the roster stays largely intact, it would point to the fact that Heupel and his staff have built a camaraderie. If it goes the other way, it will point to more problems.

I know we continue to see very little of the qbs but to me Maurer looks the best of all of them in these clips.

We have discipline and heart throughout the team that hasn't been in our program in a long, long time.

We have laid a good foundation for the future. Top 15 classes despite being a dumpster fire of a program with no instate talent to speak of.

All the signs of true progress are there if you are willing to step away from our own disappointment as UT fans for the past decade.

I don't give a rip. KY has beaten us 3 times in 35 years and they only beat us in years that we fire our coach. We will beat them. Of that list I just gave, Mizzou and Pitt are the only games that we might lose. Idk how good Pitt is. Mizzou got better, but they're still Mizzou and they aren't that good. SC and Vandy are the two worst teams in the SEC.

I also think that we are going to be a lot better on offense than people realize. We have real talent on that side of the ball and we have a coach who has never had bad QB play anywhere he has ever been. We are a 5-7 win team and I lean towards us falling 6-6 but being competitive in every game except Bama. And who knows, Heup has owned Lane so he may pull that off also. Lane has no defense either.

College football is QB driven. Good QB play can be the difference between 3-7 wins.

There are rumors that Heupel is unhappy with the QB room. I'm very interested to see what happens there. Do a couple of guys transfer out if they see the writing on the wall? How hard do we pursue transfer QBs?

My point in bringing it up was to say it's something to watch going forward. How the position is managed will be telling.

Open practice as in open tryouts for all those linebacker spots. I heard Heupel has been handing flyers out - WANTED - large fast man, or woman, that can grab and hold onto other large fast men.

Open tryouts actually not a terrible idea, especially with the virus last year. Could be some dudes sitting around who never got a chance to show a late growth spurt

There is a big slide in responsible behavior with the younger generation going back a decade or two. These kids need to be raised and be given tough love when they make mistakes. You don’t pander to their egos. That’s how you really provide the opportunity for youngsters to become responsible adults.

I would hate to see what you would say about me if you knew everything I did as a kid... Dome of us didn’t have positive influences and grew up in drug abused homes. You get angry and lash out and make stupid mistakes. It took my wives family for me to see what normal life is. You can’t just say he should reach out to a chaplain or someone, who the hell does that as a kid or even knows to?

I agree he must be held responsible for his actions and it was dumb. Whatever repercussions he has to deal with will be fair and he should be punished. But to question his character and call him a thug is low. I came from nothing, did a lot of bad things, turned my life around and now I am very successful and own my own business. Some people need more help than others and time to grow up. He still has time to learn and be a good person.

Even if "much" better...let's say 65-35 (~2:1) favorites, we win one of the three 73% of the time. Add 3 gimmes, Vandy is just awful and USC is worse than off than us. Ole Miss 50/50. 6 wins is very doable, maybe even expected.

Here's a very pessimistic prediction:
Bowling Green - 90%
Tennessee Tech - 95%
South Alabama - 90%
Pitt - 30%
Vandy - 70%
USC - 50%
Ole Miss - 30%
Mizzou - 30%
UK - 30%
UF - 10%
UGA - 5%
Bama - 5%

Even with this awfully pessimistic prediction, we go 6-6 or better 43% of the time.

This schedule just lines up too well. Barring having 0 linebackers, we have a decent chance at 6-6+.

You mean the same Mizzou that we crushed last year all the sudden is so much better than us? And Kentucky who got most their points from one QB who is gone? I’m not scared of any of those teams. Doesn’t mean we win, but we for sure could win them all.

Of course he would be. He just walked into a room full of guys that haven't been coached since high school.

I'd say, if he is unhappy, it's because that's his specialty and he's going to be the hardest on them. Not to mention, it's by far the most important position in football, so...lost my train of thought, but dang I'm glad we have a QB guy as our HC!
