Let’s assume as Kingston suggested we got our #1 target. Let’s assume that target was Matt Campbell. Ames is on central time. I would assume Matt would want to meet with his team at ISU and break the news to them himself. So look for a team meeting at ISU may be an idea. After the team meeting I’d assume we have a fast jet parked with turbines running ready to bring him to Knoxville for the press conference. We need to get Hubbs to the airport in Ames ASAP. jmo.

Listened to Josh Pate's podcast from last night. He talked about Tennessee's coaching search. Said he didn't have any inside info, search has been run with perfect secrecy, and that the announcement could very well be someone about whom no one has reported in connection with this job.

The one name he did say might make a lot of sense for us was - wait for it - James Franklin. Said Franklin is realizing the limitations on recruiting at PSU, would like to get closer to family in Florida, may be looking to get out of State College.

As far as i remember he hasn't gotten in trouble with the NCAA (i could be wrong i didn't research this) and his named was cleared on the vandy scandal stuff. I know you dislike him because of the vandy scandal (rightfully so) but technically he's cleaner in the eyes of the NCAA than chadwell, kiffin, etc who have had more serious NCAA violations on their record.

You can argue the point till you are blue in the face, but there is no way you can convince me Chadwell is dirtier and a less clean choice for HC than Franklin.

I hope it's not Franklin, but even if he's the hire, that doesn't mean "I'm out". I'll never like Franklin, even if he's named our coach, even if he comes here and we win a natty. But I'll always be a Vol, and I'll always support this football team. I cheer for the team, not the coach. I would hope we have more sense than to hire someone like James Franklin, but I've come to expect disappointment from the decision makers at UT.

I don't have to convince you of anything, not the point i'm trying to make (i apologize if this looks like i'm grandstanding for Frankling because i'm not). I'm saying this is about those headcoaches convincing DW about being clean and a safe trustable hire. Franklin doesn't have NCAA baggage, chadwell does. Franklin technically was cleared of any wrongdoing in the Vandy case. It's not like DW was close to the situation like us Vol fans were when the vandy stuff happened so he might not have such a sour taste about Franklin as the majority of our fanbase does.

this is how I feel about Lane if he’s hired. I despise the child but I’ll support him if he’s our coach

"Close to the situation" --> translation --> beat UT so hard it convinced fans he covered up rape.
