AV said look to Low as the best media source in this. The 5 on his list are all huge upgrades over what we’ve had for many years.

As close to the vest as DW and his team are playing this, I would not be shocked if the announced HC will be someone who has not even been mentioned. This could be bad or good. Perhaps DW is about to pull a coach from an existing team that no one even considered was looking around.

It would be incredible, especially considering that, if the hire is actively coaching, it would require silence from folks at his old employer and new.

I agree with your thinking.

Campbell is just such an insane target that I can't wrap my head around it happening (although I will be happy as anyone if it happens.)

Fickell and Fleck make the most sense to me - both are great coaches and program builders. Neither have any integrity issues in their past.

Specifically with Fickell, it had to have been made clear to him this year that a G5 team can't make the playoff in its current form. If you want to compete for it all, you have to move up. He was close to taking the Michigan State job last season so we know he wants to move if the situation is right.

Not that I think this is it given the time that he was at Tennessee years ago, but we always hear that it is somebody not being discussed or mentioned much.

Dave Clawson?

(I still think #1 is Campbell, though)

Yep. Freeze a million times over Franklin but even he has “baggage” and he is not in the running.

Franklin makes me was to vomit. He's a scumbag and is extremely annoying to watch on the sidelines.

However, he can coach football. He can recruit. And something his teams have always done that we haven't done since Kiffin and since Dooley practically gave up and just let CP run around is effectively use playmakers.

I don't want Franklin here.... with our issues and especially with our self-destructive Knoxville media, he's a propane leak next to a firework show.

But.. if it's him... wasn't my decision. Not my money. Football product can't get meaningfully worse. We'd probably win more.

That contradicts the info out this morning that two vetted candidates will not be interviewed and two that have been named have not even been contacted at all.

Michigan State had several P5 HCs turn the them down. They threw the bank just to get Tucker
