I'm telling yall now. They are gonna seriously try to land a big name. They will fail.
We will pass on Kiffin for someone that is quite obviously not as good as him.
Its just so stupid... its so Tennessee.
IF this is what happens, then nothing at Tennessee has changed. Absolutely nothing.
You get turned down by guys like Campbell and you end up hiring some coordinator, or someone like Napier, Brown, Leipold... all the while Kiffin is there.
If thats the case, Tennessee honestly will never be more than an mediocre program again.

Kingston did say..... sometimes it's better to be a little too early on a coach. That fits fleck too imo.... He's 40 he is still trying to figure things out....Fleck was also in the MAC while White was at Buffalo so I'm sure they have crossed paths.

I’m not sure if Fleck would really sound as bad as Butch, but I (used to anyways) like to listen to locker room show after games. Even when we were still winning I had to turn Butch off. Just cringeworthy!

Would Fleck bring the "row the boat" thing with him? Would seem awfully played out after he already used it at two other schools. I can't see Butch saying "brick by brick" at Arkansas State, lol.

I'm not saying Frost is the answer but he's not a scrub, and you can't wave away what he did at UCF and pretend like he can't coach. Huepel isn't keeping up with the pace he set, either. Team is trending down now.

Mike Riley was 19-19 at Nebraska and was fired.

Scott Frost is 12-20. If he was anyone except who he is, he would’ve already been fired and banished to coaching purgatory.

But I think a lot of coaches are A) disqualified because of past (Kiffin and Freeze) ... or B) Not wanting to deal with the unknown sanctions (Campbell, Fickell, etc.)

Double edged sword... If we don't have the NCAA stuff, we probably still have Pruitt.😑

The idea that we're going to pay FU money, if that is indeed the case, that's going to eliminate a lot of names in this thread simply because it would be an embarrassment to overpay for some of these names. I can't see DW doing that. The other thing is that we're used to settling for who we can get but I think that may have changed when DW took over. The who we can get list, I think, probably grew a lot longer. Lastly, DW said one of the first things he said to his wife about the Tennessee job is that he could win a national championship here. Now maybe that's just AD speak or maybe given a few considerations he was being authentic. Until proven otherwise I think we're going after the best coach out there and it will be someone that has already had success against CFB playoff teams. I can't see spending FU money on anyone else. jmo.

He's got one more year at Nebraska to turn it around IMO. It's not just his name and past, that 2017 UCF season looms large for giving the AD hope. It would be different if Huepel still had them humming along, but he doesn't. So Frost had something working there.
