I firmly believe he is the enemy of this program. I think he and his group caused much of what we saw yesterday. I see yesterday as a dark sad day and one we won’t recover from for at least a decade.
7-8 win seasons will be our ceiling this decade.

I think if we had removed Pruitt the “right way” he had left us a good roster and one where the new coach coach have won 8-10 games sooner rather than later
Seems to be the same ceiling we have had for the last 15 years so what is your point?

The last sentence in the post you quoted said it

I think removing Pruitt the right way would have set up the mew coach in the best position to win of any coach since fulmer.
That’s out the window now

Neal Brown showing up on the VQ board is interesting.

He’s now been linked to us, Auburn and South Carolina. I don’t believe in coincidences - he’s looking to get out of WVU.

That would be one of the toughest jobs in the country IMO. Leaving the Big East for the Big 12 was a huge mistake for them.

I think Ingram is a better choice, but Gilbert seems to have the inside edge. AD hire should happen quickly.
Both are great choices and we should be happy with either. They both have experience and are infinitely better options than what we've had recently. Gilbert MAY have an inside track because of his relationship with Barnes and, while that may be valuable, it may have no significant bearing on the likelihood of him being hired, especially if the search firm plays a big role.

Everyone is rightfully emotional right now, some for different reasons... It's funny though how many are so quick to judge and shoot down a potential hire... Go back to mid-season and think about the game or half that Pruitt royally F'd up for the 100th time, think about his staff and their blunders over and over... let it sink in... okay now go back and look at some of these potential coaches... Yeah a Fisher type would not be a sexy hire, but the guy has years and years of experience that Pruitt didn't have and probably would never have... Part of the problem was JP apparently wouldn't let his staff coach...had to have a hand in everything... I think just a experienced coach who's not an idiot and brings a very strong experienced staff who will be left to do their jobs will be an INSTANT UPGRADE to our program and we will be shocked with the player development and cohesiveness of the program.

and no, anyone that thinks after all this we settle for Steele as HC, I can't help you, that's just not gonna happen.

Pruitt needed to be gone and Phil as well. They got it right today. NCAA coming into this and us blind would’ve got us scorched earth. Appreciate those like AV that give a damn about Tennessee. Fulmer was sucking the tit dry and I like him. But it was time for the failed AD and coach to leave. For once in years I saw competence. She said the right things and now we get a coach and let it play out. Quit being a baby. You’re better than that.

Bravo!

With every self inflicted defeat or failure comes the opportunity for growth and renewal. The football program did not and should not become like others. Vol football should be a unique program that it is called to be. It had lost its way. At one time it sought excellence. It got there and did not "put on more steam" (Maxim #3). It stopped carrying the fight to the opponents for 60 minutes per game (Maxim #7) and rested on its laurels.

The program can now begin to heal and start the upward climb again. I am excited for the future of the program again. Get the AD and HC/staff hires right and I will commit financially and with my time again.
