I am pretty sure he and Satterfield both turned down SC. Not sure how far he got with Auburn. He is obviously being patient, which is a good move. They love him at ULL and he has a really good recruiting base with LA, TX and MS. He could win there for a long time
It's also a harder decision than it used to be because coaching salaries even at the G5 schools have increased so much over the last several years. Used to a move from a place like ULL to a P5, any P5 was a no-brainer because they were going to 5 or even 10x your salary.

Not anymore - those guys make real good money in the G5 now, and if they've got a humming program (like Napier does) they can afford to be more picky than they used to be.

You're in. No dues. Just refresh 2,000 times a day so Freak can get the ad revenue.

Sweet!!!

Saban retires after next season. Dabo goes home and Napier ends up back at Clemson.
I do not believe Dabo wants to go home. But the lost to Ohio State and his statement about Ohio State being 11th in country have lost him some points with Clemson faithful. I have always thought Clemson would eventually come back down to reality. Ironically, a strong UT could help make that happen.

BS... Everything Fulmer does is in the best interest of Fulmer.

I think he loves the university but I don't think he's in the right position at the university. I think he's too close to Pruitt and the program. An AD needs to be supportive but hands way-the-hell-off in that role and it sure sounds like he's been hands on. Why an extension and raise? Why watching film? Put him on the staff as an o-line coach or in the VASF president's chair or just on the VASF staff if there is one.

edited because I misread what I quoted

The fact of the matter is Clemson has filled the void that UT has left for them. The Vols coming back to prominence will accelerate their return to normal.

Bama will make Dabo an offer he can’t refuse.

I don’t see their administration laying down after Saban retires.

Oh come on. Dabo is a god there.

I thought it was a no-brainer he'd go back home until he won that first title with Clemson, and now I'd be stunned if he returned home after winning a second. There's no reason for him to go back to Alabama at this point unless it is for purely sentimental reasons.

What caused the rift between Fulmer and Barnes? How’d they get cross ways?

I don’t believe there is a rift at all

I think fulmer didn’t have the $ to make the call for a raise and those above him made it happen.

I don’t buy that fulmer gave him the ole FU and to just leave stuff

Lost points with the Clemson faithful. Right. Get out of here with that.

Yep. And most of the G5 schools are located in smaller markets with lower costs of living so they’re really doing pretty good with those salaries.

I don’t have a disdain for Phillip. He is a friend (off the field) and was a hell of a football coach and did wonderful things for the program and the university in the hey day. But just because of that doesn’t give him a pass to do the things he has since becoming the AD. PERIOD.

Behind closed doors he has done more damage to the football program since he departed than any single person in the history of the program. If you ask any current coach who has been there since he has been AD in a closed room setting you would be astonished to hear the meddling and the toxic environment he has created. Trust me here...as more and more of this staff leave the more and more dirt will come out publicly about him and it will be a real bad look for him and the university for allowing it to happen.

There is a reason why you have a large conglomerate of very high profile boosters who have demanded him ride off into the sunset...guess we will see what happens.
I love Coach Fulmer, and always will. Anyone who tries to reduce his legacy as a Vol For Life, are some of the biggest fools in the room. What he meant as a player and a coach are only topped by Robert Neyland and Pat Summitt.

For those who try and tarnish his legacy as a coach by salivating over Steve Spurrier...yes, Fulmer only beat him and UF twice; but, only Bobby Bowden and Tom Osborne were the only ones to do it a couple or three times, as well.

Now, Fulmer the AD. I was happy as hell whenever he was hired. I was wrong. In my defense, I think I'd been happy with Donald Duck over John Currie.

If all of this is true, David Blackburn should be hired this afternoon. Shouldve been hired long ago.
