Tennessee does have things going for it. I just figured that the disaster of the last decade plus would have had more of a negative effect that it has.Isn’t hard to recruit at Tennessee. If you’re a halfway decent recruiter you can pull a top 15 class here rather easily.
It’s going to be 10x harder for Pruitt to recruit elite prospects (not even mentioning trying to convince quality assistants to join him) if he stays vs a new head coach/staff even if we had a bowl ban/scholly reductions.
I like him. I have some reservations just from his time spent with saban but more importantly he’s been a successful OC, got a good look at Clemson before their rise, and he’s shown to be a successful head coach. His win over Iowa state won me over a lot for him. It’s hard enough to beat a better program.... much less a better program with a great coach. How do you like Napier?
yeah Napier over Chadwell, all day for me. he's made the progressive steps that a lot of guys haven't....they're all a risk to some degree, i would say Napier's risk factor is lower than some of the others. if nothing else, he clearly has a vision for what he wants and how to do it....and that's at least a really good place to start....especially if you're going to take over a program like this, right now.I like him. I used to lean more Chadwell over Napier but the more i watch tape of Napier the more i think i prefer him because i think he is less of a gamble.
He understands successful recruiting in the SEC. In that sense, it isn't a risky hire at all. That is the only thing we knew for sure about Pruitt when we hired him. The successful HC ability he has shown is just icing on the cake by comparison.I like him.
