You folks need to get used to the idea that coach Pruitt will be back next year. While this season has been the worst Tennessee football season of my lifetime, I still believe Pruitt is a good coach. The Phillip Fulmer bashing on this board has been absurd. Phillip has dedicated over half of his life to this great university and I trust him to do what he feels is best. He’s smarter than 99% of the folks on this board. Jeremy is going to shake the staff up again, bring in another solid recruiting class along with a couple of attention getting transfers, and we’re going to have a solid 2021 season. Let’s ride.[/QUOTE]
Fulmer and Pruitt sending their goonies out to Volnation now. LOL
Coach Fulmer finally joined the boardYou folks need to get used to the idea that coach Pruitt will be back next year. Freeze, Napier, and Chadwell will most likely be there for the picking this time next year as well. Especially Freeze and Chadwell. Give the Reverend another year to make sure he can run a clean program, give Chadwell another year to make sure this year wasn’t a fluke. If Jeremy can’t get it done next year, go ahead and bring one of those guys in. However, I still have confidence that coach Pruitt can get this program turned around if given proper time. We need stability, and those at the top feel the same way. Boyd, Plowman and Fulmer seem to all be on the same page. I’ll trust those three over anybody on this board. I’ve been a lurker for a long time, but it seems apparent to me that the critical thinking skills on this board collectively aren’t too good.
I think the primary focus is on reshaping the offense. Pruitt needs to figure out an offensive identity and philosophy before he can hire the right assistants. He can replace Brumbaugh and add another defensive guy. He needs to be more of a HC and not a defensive coach, so adding another guy on that side would (theoretically) help. They've been running through scenarios-- but the top choices might not be available or willing to come.
Therein lies the problem. This staff won't be as good as it could be because of 3-7.I think the primary focus is on reshaping the offense. I thought James Cregg was the OL coach in 09? He followed Kiffin to USC. He has been at LSU as OL coach the last few years, but is probably about to be let go.Chaney would be a huge upgrade over Friend as the oline coach and a much better option than any of the hot board candidates. He did great work coaching the position at UT in 2009.
So many do not understand how things work. I agree.
Potential lawsuit is at stake. Jeremy needs resolution of this as well as UT. If he is fired during an on-going investigation it damages his reputation and future employment. Defamation suits are difficult to win, however, doing so at this time if it comes out that the violations were only minor would give him cause to sue and likely win a judgment. Which UT would need to settle before going to court and add to the already horrendous buy-out. Potential HC hires would see it all play out in the media and avoid this place more than they already do.
Patience, grasshoppers. Rant and vent on here all you want to let off steam. Wait until resolution of the investigation before calling for their heads.
