I said after the KY game that this season would be forgiven if he just played bailey the rest of the way. A lot of people said similar things. But that’s not what happened. Pruitt continued to show how incompetent he is. He’s gotta goDo y'all think if Pruitt had played Bailey or Shrout sooner, we'd be more forgiving, or re-directing our anger towards our inability to cover slants?
His single biggest con would be that despite his reputation, he actually has a poor track record at developing QBs. Gus only has big years in the first season of a transfer QB. In particular, the QBs that he has recruited and tried to develop out of high school (Johnson and Nix) suck and play like they are insanely poorly coached.
Gus is like the opposite of that cliche that people say about reputations. Reputations supposedly take a lifetime to build and can be tarnished really quickly, right? Gus built a reputation as on offensive guru early in his career on the basis of a couple of seasons, and that reputation has persisted for years despite a ton of lackluster offenses in the proceeding years.
Suck.Please stop saying "suck"
What people don't like about Gus is that he doesn't throw the ball all over the field, that's it. Bo in year 1 won 9 games, Marshall transfers in and wins 20 games in 2 seasons, he missed on Jeremy Johnson which no one saw coming the guy looked ready in the first two years when he got mop up duty but wasn't ready to be the main guy, still Auburn went 7-6 and 8-5 during those 2 down seasons before Jarret Stidham showed up.
I mean if you don't want run heavy RPO then just say that.
Bo Nix, Sean White, and Jeremy Johnson haven't had good numbers but still collectively have gone 30-19 while the offense averaged 29.4ppg. That's underachieving, but hardly sucking I -wish- we had that same 4 year stretch to complain about right now.
If he makes a QB change in the 3rd quarter of the Georgia game or starts anybody but JG against Kentucky then I don't think it ever would've gotten this bad. Each week Pruitt said "Jarrett gives us our best shot to win" and JG would trot out and make devastating mistakes, all without getting pulled. We had 3 bye weeks this year. There was no excuse to not play someone else at QB earlier in the season.Do y'all think if Pruitt had played Bailey or Shrout sooner, we'd be more forgiving, or re-directing our anger towards our inability to cover slants?
