Nah. He isn’t the answer. I see why the coaches were hesitant to play him.

He might get better but it would be marginal.

Take a good look at the other QBs who started as freshman and just had it.

It doesn’t look the same.

It’s not the answer anyone wants but he just isn’t the answer.
He does a lot of the little things right. Hes a much better option than #2. The throws will come, the leadership and being coachable is something either a guy has or he doesn't. Bailey is the right guy because he sets the right tone.

I’m trying to figure out where his “slow throwing motion” hindered his throws.... he fit every pass into every window it needed to be in when he threw 😂 does it matter what his arm looked like when he did this? When he needed to get the ball out quick he did.
Idk but it bugs the crap outta me. He has a little wrist flip at the end of his wind up.

He gets his timing down with those deep balls and teams are going to have a real issue with him.

How do you know a player isn’t the answer after his first start against a top 6 team? Had Shrout not come in (prevent defense) Bailey would have had over 200 yards and 2 td. You wouldn’t be saying this.

Because we have all seen other guys come in at other schools on their first start and light it up and never look back.

That’s not what we saw today.

You blame Pruitt for our offensive coordinator calling run run pass like 4 series in a row?

If you look at the play chart, we really never did that in the second half. They ran on first and second one series, but it was right after Gray got 10 yards on a first down right before it. Did it a few times in the first half.

The third and longs in the second half were a result of sacks.

Uhh were they having .01 secs to throw due to blitzes straight up the middle? Were they having WRs constantly not getting open? Did you watch any of the replays they zoomed out when Bailey stood in the pocket with it collapsing all around him where our guys were literally covered up with no passing window?

We averaged giving up 2.4 sacks a game this year. HB gave up 5 JUST through his ~3 quarters today. Feels a lot like JG's freshman season. He'll improve on that, just not good rn and our pass pro stinks.

It's not fair for a true frosh to make his first start in a game like this AND have a backup center as well as that backup's backup. You blitz that you're gonna be happy every time.

Terrible offensive line play and our WRs inability to get open was the result of those sacks.

Pruitt is less liked than any coach we’ve had in the football complex since our fall from grace. It’s part his naturally gruff personality, but the coaching staff refusing those pay cuts has totally severed all the teamwork and camaraderie in the building. Pruitt has gotten worse during our losing streak, and has again doubled down on the “I’ll be a coordinator in two days” talk. No one is happy over there and no one below the administration wants this thing to be successful.

The issue I’ve been told about is not of Pruitt’s doing, but could be a problem regardless of who is head coach next year. That’s all I’ll say. Hopefully it never reaches the public, if it’s correct. And I have no reason to think it isn’t.

Your the only one that has come on here that had that opinion. Not sure what you were expecting from a Freshman's first start against a ranked team and had zero Spring ball and limited practices in Fall camp. Let's add the ultra conservative play calling and a coaching staff that can't develop talent. Putting him in third and long positions constantly has a way of making a very talented QB look average. I think your trolling.

What was he supposed to do? Two of those sacks he had less than one second to try and throw the ball.

From Bob Vols on 247:

It’s mismanagement all the way around. Every aspect of the program is questionable. Anyone who wants to dispute that is clueless and is just making excuses. Fans beginning to accept mediocrity. Tennessee isn’t even mediocre anymore. It’s a dangerous place to be right now. A win vs. Vandy doesn’t fix any of this.
