If you don’t think a transfer Qb can be the difference between 2 wins and 5-7 right now all you have to do is look at Miami. If they don’t get King they are where we are at. He completely changed the dynamic of that team. They are still far behind around him but he makes everyone else look better. Remove him and you have the same ole Miami of last yr and not like Rhett lashlee suddenly became a superstar OC overnight when he was average elsewhere. Get the QB and everyone else falls in place.

pretty shocking that you are so dumb that you can’t see the public responses to the idiot that called vol calls and notice that a message board post means nothing in terms of public perception.

Also the reactions to the vol
Calls Idiot here even by the Pruitt haters were disgust

So I’m not surprised you don’t understand the difference. Kind of like an idiot thinking texting JGs family is the same as message board criticism and appropriate. Idiotic
You call other people dumb constantly and think that behind the guise of a screen name it finds the qualification of appropriate. Public perception is what it is whether it's on a call in show or a free message board that any one can screenshot and spread around with a label of the general pulse of the fan base. It's happened numerous times. Your inability to see the hypocrisy behind it is the truly unsurprising development in this because you lack self awareness and you display that on a daily basis. Your arbitrary qualifications are still self serving so YOU can believe that what YOU do, isn't the same. But it is. Just because you're too much of a pansy to say it to anyone's face doesn't negate the similarities.

Sorry dude but if you honestly think you're justified in your words while calling analogous actions dumb, worthy of the POS title you carelessly throw around to people you do not know or classless then the only dumbass in this debate is you. Gtfo and log off guy.

The funny thing is, Bama has nothing that we don't have. The only advantage that bama has over us is that they have slightly more in state talent. But that is changing quickly, and bama isn't GA or something as far as in state talent. We have everything else that they have, which is why we are the second winningest SEC program of all time. The difference right now is that their admin is 100% devoted to winning and did whatever it took to get Saban, and I'm not sure that our admin is there, even with Phil as the AD. There are signs though with him giving Pruitt literally whatever he asked for. We'll see what the coaching search looks like when the Pruitt era is done. Will we be willing to pony up to pay for the hottest name out there or not?
they were holding on tight at that point to the "bama way" looking for any bear bryant desciple to bring back the glory...and after several failed attempts, they finally went outside the family and that didn't go well either....it was every bit as inept leadership as we're experiencing now.....before we got kiffin'd, they got franchionne'd........and then they went to the Pac 10 and hired MIke Price...for like 10 minutes.....kinda like we did with Schiano...but all Mike did was go to the florabama and hook up with a stripper....ours, not as much fun....but same result nonetheless.....so they want back to the bryant model and finished up with dubose and shula....

when the fired Shula, after he had just won the West the year before, most figured "hahaha, look at them...gonna do it again to themselves...." and that's how it went, initially, because, don't forget, Bama didn't start on Saban, they wound up there....they got told NO first, notably by Rich Rod from WVU........so by the time they went "all in" on SAban, there was an air of desperation to it.....and a lot of people had to get out of the way in Tuscaloosa to get him to take the job.

Bama from 00-05 was a lot like we have been since 08. the wrong people pulling the strings.

the difference is to get Saban, people had to get out of the way or get left behind.....cuase they were going this way, and this way only.

we haven't ever done that. til we do...............................................

Interesting possible nugget from the VQ podcast.... paraphrasing here but at one point the question was about the lack of corner depth and if not Nyland Green (which price thinks is uga now), then who? Prices said something to the effect that we might find someone via the transfer route. Even said “maybe a kid from Tennessee.”

Odd comment to make... I wonder if he’s heard something? Adonis Otey or Woodi Washington looking to come home? I think Vanderbilt signed a four star safety from Chattanooga in 18 - but no corner. No way Maurice Hampton comes this way.

Just casually glancing - Otey only played one game this year and 3 last year. Plus they have a lot of depth at USC. I wonder if he’s looking to come back home and have reached out to gauge interest.

Might be nothing but definitely a comment that jumped out to me.

When I look at it I'm going to throw out the NC guys. They haven't played a senior season so we don't know what they have, and, quite frankly, the competition for them wasn't that great either if we're being honest.

But going down the class, we do have some nice pieces in the RB class, Salter has a chance to be really good with development (please hire a QB coach!), and of course Brooks is the best player in this class. But after them, what are we looking at? The OL class is poor and we desperately needed an elite tackle. The DL class is average with Katron Evans being the biggest piece and, again, who was our comp for him? Not that he isn't good, I'm just not sure he's an elite player there. He is ranked inside the top 200 though on the composite so we'll see.

We desperately need LB's, I like willis, but he's undersized and wouldn't surprise me to see him playing star or something. The rest of the class? The WR class is very poor, with Roc Taylor being the best piece, and he's still a 3 star. It does help to see that AU pushed for him, but outside of that, our receiver class is very poor imo. I do like the TE's, but Wolfe is coming off of a season ending injury so will he be the same again? Who know's. Campbell is good I think.

After them you've got a whole bunch of "trust the coaches" on their evaluation in Rucker, Charles, Wright, Howard, White, Jones, and Bell.

In other words, we needed to nail this class, and barring some last minute additions which, at least at this point don't seem to be happening, this class is very, very underwhelming and is not helping us close the gap with the top schools that we want to compete against. We struck out on the top targets of Mims, Green, Mondon, and TID that would have made this class much better, and now we have lost Lewis and McGhee. This isn't good.

Hard to expect much better than this when we’ve been losing like we have.

I felt this😩 I knew this kind of response would come out at some point towards him...nice response.obviously way too nice though😅😂

I think losing that game is overrated in terms of why we are where we are. One game doesn’t make or break a program like that. Texas similarly screwed up in 2001 by losing to a team they’d already convincingly beaten in the regular season. They bounced back and kept going.

Our decline was the result of a whole host of factors.
I was referring to Fulmer’s decline as a recruiter. Playing in National Championship game would have continued recruiting dominance.

I think a good QB helps, obviously, but I guess I'm just not sure if it's a simple in the W/L record.

I think some teams, specifically Auburn and Georgia this year, played down to us because they know we can't really score. I think A&M will probably do the same.

That's just me spitballing, but sometimes teams look better if you give them better competition.
ok, well, you're just moving the goal posts now...lol.

i can't account for other teams mental make up and attitude toward playing us, and extrapolate that in to what "should have" been in regards to score/margin or outcome...

lol.

what i can do is look at #2 and say "if we had a QB that didn't suck............"

i mean, really......that guy has had more devestating game changing plays in his career.....how many 100 yard turnover for TD's has our QB account for in his carrier? 3? who does that???? FL, 18, Bama last year, Aubuirn this year? not to mention the other major gaffes, of which there are many, that totally affected outcome...

anyway, that's all well documented here....lol.

give me good QB play and i'll show you probably 5 additional W';s the past two years.

The other team’s never out of it with him taking snaps, so they never lose heart and keep plugging. Our defense knows it and tightens up to compensate...leading to those big plays that burst the dam. JG gives THEM the best chance to win.

Thought it was interesting too

i don't disagree with that. lol.

the only fans JG scares are TN fans.

Maybe one of the more under appreciated moments.
BTW, Neyland will always be ready to be electric like it was after that kick. We just need to win and be competitive a little bit.

This brought a huge smile to my face.

Thank you.

We will see those moments again in the future.

How was Bama viewed circa 2006? I don't remember the national perception of them at that point. They had been down for a long time but managed to land Saban, who wasn't quite viewed on the level he is today but was still a can't miss coach even back then.

Bama is historically dominant but they hadn't done much since the early 90s at that point.

I was 14 when we won it all, a teenager through the glory days, and Bama was as irrelevant to me then as a team like Mississippi St or Vandy. I had no idea about their history or the past of the rivalry up until they hired Saban. Their fans wore brown paper bags in the stands to hide their faces. I never, ever thought about losing to them. And here we are.....

Arkansas.....complete 180 from last year....with new everything......

UGA looks like a completely different team iwth JT Daniels at hte helm....

i'm not saying it's a "do this, and it will equal that", but yeah, QB is important.....and that's three good examples of what a difference it can make.....if you hit on the right one....casue for everyone of these types we have out there, well, there's a keller chryst right behind 'em.

i don't disagree with that. lol.

I’d go back to the UGA game. Even with the lead, you were waiting for the other shoe to drop...and of course they dropped a box of hobnail boots courtesy of a walk-on QB. But if we’re honest, this dates back to 2018. Was Helton as horrible as we built up or was he another casualty?

Alabama was an average to bad program from 95-06, but unlike us they had a few good seasons within a 10 year time frame. Saban was elite at LSU, but wasn’t there long enough to build a dynasty (look what he left Miles though).

They didn’t play down to us. AUB is extremely mediocre and UGA’s offense was terrible with Stetson and good offensive teams have exposed their D. I thought their D was elite. I was incorrect. Or maybe that’s considered an elite D now and offenses are just that much more advanced.

I’m hopeful Bailey doesn’t play bad tomorrow or you might feel the need to tweet at his family.
