John's much closer relative (his dad) was the antithesis of Chad. One of the best all-time catchers in MLB, who largely sacrificed notoriety for the good of his team.I know the odds are long, but two young guys I hope really ball out this year and find a way on an NFL roster next year is Darrel Middleton and Brandon Johnson.
Middleton was a guy I was critical come signing day. I wasn't convinced he would ever have an impact here because the whole "just got by being a bigger kid and has never wanted to play defense" narrative. Defense is kind of a mentality and you either have it or you don't. But I have to concede that the kid looked pretty damned disruptive at times last year. IIRC it was against Alabama he was wrecking dudes. Plus it would be good to see a home town kid make it big.
Brandon Johnson - I mean, I don't know, I can't really explain it but I kind of had an affinity for guys like him, Tyler Byrd, CFA etc who all came in under the previous regime, but stuck it out even when things weren't going their way. Johnson led the team in receptions as a sophmore and considering his bloodlines (Chad Johnsons nephew) I think it would've been easy for him to have an ego and want to transfer after he was set to take a back seat to the JJ/MC/JP trio these past two years under a new staff. But he's stuck it out and even volunteered to redshirt last year to better help the team this year. Josh Palmer looks like he could be a #1. Gibbs seems like an unknown, but one hell of an athlete. Keyton has flashed, as has Tillman - but honestly both are probably another year away from taking lead roles. I'm hoping Johnson - now a 5th year senior - has developed into a crafty, dangerous veteran out of the slot.
As always, I'll be rooting for everyone in orange, but those are two guys I'll especially be rooting for to find a way.
In spite of all the hell you catch on here, I’m generally pro-Catbone, but come on, man. How can you hate on Canada? They’re so nice, hockey’s a great sport, fries with cheese curds and gravy are pure genius, and the Canadian Rockies are spectacular.
America #1
Canada #2
Just sayin’.
I was really proud of our football team when they came back to campus a few weeks ago and went for a number of weeks with no infections. Then they go home for the independence day weekend and just screw everything up. I have no doubt that Pruitt, his staff, our medical team, Fulmer, and just about everybody were likely impressing on these kids the importance of their health practices in the current environment. Some of the kids obviously said, no thanks, I’m with Bass. jmo.
Seriously, what a bunch of dumbasses. From the beginning I've been into social distancing but I wasn't in a situation where I really needed a mask but then some of the places I go started posting signs that said "No mask, no service". Okay that's their right. I respect that. To go there I wear a mask. I don't care why they have the rule. It's not important. They could say I've got to wear a blue shirt and if I want to shop there I better get a damn blue shirt.
I honestly can't relate to people who are getting infected. I'm mean I'm not in a situation where there's much of an opportunity for me to get infected (Knock on wood) but I realize some people can't avoid those situations for legitimate reasons. Football players on vacation do not have legitimate excuses other than just being a complete dumbass. jmo.
A decade ago. A decade. My goodness, time flies.
