If this roster is as “void” as your making it out to be then a serviceable QB isn’t fixing it. We would never be in position for it to.

Case in point jay cutlers best record in 4 years at vandy was 5-6. The other 3 was 2-10. That roster was void of talent. If you put jay cutler on this roster we’re winning at the very absolute least 7 games
I mentioned specific positions. Quit being such an absolutist. It’s why your takes always come out so cold.

no, we didn't either get in contact with him again or were late to the party or whatever, i forget the specifics....but............Mullen wasn't choice one here. we talked, and hired Schiano. and as soon as Kelly got hired by UCLA, Florida made Mullen the priority. by the time we decided to come back around, it was already over.

our window to hire Mullen was before UCLA hired Chip Kelly, cause that was UF's first choice.
You’re wrong...at least on the timeline. Mullen was already hired and signed before Schianomo. His was finalized on Saturday, Currie TRIED to finalize on Sunday. It was leaked that we had offered Mullen before all that. If anything, Currie most likely knew how Mullen would end up and played it like that to make the Schiano hire more palatable...good plan!

His success is predicated on having guys that are good enough to win most of their matchups on the merits of their own talent not anything special he has to offer as a coach. jmo.

Kind of sums it up. He's a "game manager" OC. He manages, but doesn't elevate, the talent on the field. We're not going to out UGA UGA or outBama Bama.

Which is why I didn't love it either, though I think it was good for what Pruitt wanted immediately. And I think he'll improve us next year. I said it offseason - his Y1s have not been very good. But he shows progress over time. I figured he is good enough to get us back to being decent and then hopefully hand the keys over to someone dynamic once he's ready to retire - someone with a positive "coaching effect" that can elevate the talent to something special. But that is looking way off into a distant, and currently very optimistic, future at this point.

that's right. i remember thinking that was stupid.....lol....should have never left Starkville.......IF he was Currie's 1st choice.....

Beating Georgia would be great but since that's unlikely to happen, what would be the maximum margin of lost that would make you feel like we are taking the right step forward? Or does it not matter as long as we show fight the whole game?

I could have seen him staying if Florida hadn’t been an option.

Well I’ll say this the kid lasted way longer than I expected. Some of you might recall that when he committed I posted displeasure but didn’t want to be direct about it but I knew for a fact he was a very bad Apple in Hs. He had significant drug issues and those were the reasons he bounced around schools and why many schools passed on him. Of course I ripped for posting my worries.

He lasted longer than I would have guessed but not at all suprised he was never a winning player.

i could have too, but.....if we REALLY wanted Mullen....i don't think you leave and say "we'll catch up on Sunday".....

make him an offer he can't refuse, and keep doing it until he said yes.

not saing i agree with doing that for mullen specifically, but if he really was "that guy" and at the top of our board, then that just tells me we weren't going to invest and we were always willing to settle.

and yeah, that wasn't a good plan...lol.

carry the fight to Georgia and keep it there for 60 minutes.

you either have a standard, or you don't.

Franks was bad, but not as bad as JG. At least he was willing to run. And UF's OL last year was vastly superior. We've had over a decade of incompetence. UF was in a much better place.
If you remember, UF's OL was supposed to be a complete disaster in 2017 and no one liked Franks. The OL was projected to be near bottom of the conference, just above us.

What they did was nothing short of a miracle, turning a 22 point/game offense into a 35 point/game offense. They did in 1 year what Butch took 3 years to do. Mcelwain, an offensive coach, handed them the reigns to a group that averaged 23, 24, then 22 ppg the 3 years prior. They didn't inherit crap.

It still has nothing to do with actually coaching football. That seems to be a problem right now. JMO.

It's a trickle down effect. I was somewhat high on Pruitt being a good football coach. Still believe he hasn't lost his coaching.

But that said, good organizations start at the top. Culture, synergy, whatever you want to call it. Sound decisions, everyone knows who is boss, people do their part, contributions are made for the organization to succeed, etc. When you are a cluster at the top and constantly hire and fire, you hire people who make a coaching search into a complete cluster, and you end up possibly hiring a cluster as a coach. It is difficult for the people at the bottom to overcome the people at the top, especially when the people at the bottom are probably not the correct one for the job.

I will be happy with pee wee football fundamentals being properly executed. Have to start somewhere.

There's so much that goes into that. And I'm trying to be realistic with where we are. I'm gonna say 17, especially if they are up 10 and score a garbage TD late.

And, yes, I do realize how pathetic it is to be saying that I'd feel good about only losing by 17. But, hell, it would be an improvement over our average margin of defeat in SEC games under Pruitt.

I made myself listen to Pruitt’s PC today and don’t believe Pruitt could’ve handled it any better. Anyone calling him a dumb a$$ needs to go listen to that interview. He was very detailed in his plans and the approach they take on quality control daily/weekly. He started talking defense and went way in depth on the types of analysis they use to determine what they are/aren’t doing well and how to improve it. He’s aware the qb situation sucks and is giving them all equal reps this week in practice. When you listen to him talk it appears he’s got this thing running in the right direction. It’s just impossible to see it as a fan because we only see what is on the field during games, and that has been atrocious at times. To hear him talk about it he truly believes we aren’t far from seeing success. I for one hope he’s right, and we start to see some fruits from the labor this team is putting in. This has been a long hard crappy road for everyone involved in Tennessee Football.
Yes. Absolutely. Just finished watching.

Based on how good you think this team can be, besides Georgia and Alabama which remaining game on the schedule do you think is the least winnable?

What would you predict the final score would be if we could swap QBs with UGA? We get Fromm and they get JG. ... and UGA has to leave JG in the entire game.
