My thing is, maybe we need to play more young guys. They’ll figure things out quicker with experience and their talent and effort will more than make up for what the older guys are giving us imo. I hope Crouch and Harrison get real play tonight. Our upperclassmen for the most part aren’t good. Couple that with the fact that they haven’t bought in to Pruitt and you end up with this mess we have right now. We are forced to play a lot of Pruitts young’s guy who just in all honesty aren’t really ready.
If we are looking for a sliver of hope it’s that the culture Butch left was beyond repair. Like bass said, the coaches know their X’s and O’s, and the new kids are the ones out there playing hard. Hoping that’s what we’re seeing. Most of coaching is getting guys to play together and to play hard.
We had the talent to beat the brakes off Auburn last year when this coaching staff got the most out of it.
Army doesn’t have the talent to compete with Michigan. Georgia State doesn’t have the talent to compete with Tennessee. But those coaching staffs got the best out of the talent available.
We’ve got some great X’s and O’s coaches. There’s no debate there. But they haven’t been able to connect with or consistently motivate the talent they’ve been given.
I am one of Butch’s biggest critics. Didn’t like that guy at all. But it’s a little too convenient to blame problems on the last coach, especially when the current guy is in his second year.If we are looking for a sliver of hope it’s that the culture Butch left was beyond repair. Oh I’m not saying it’s his fault necessarily. I’m saying it’s “possible” and that helps me keep my sanity and gives me hope things can get better lol.I am one of Butch’s biggest critics. This is true. Why is that? I’m not going to act as you are right now that we are a very talented team. We’re not. We aren’t more talented than AU. Again, we had 0 draft picks last year. And how many do you feel like will get drafted from our upper class man this year? We can speculate on freshmen but that’s just speculation. Outside of Callaway who do you feel like is drafted off this team? It’s just not true to say we have a lot of talent and it’s only coaching as you’re trying to imply here for whatever reason. I think you want your preseason narrative to be true. We’ve got some great X’s and O’s coaches. There’s no debate there. But they haven’t been able to connect with or consistently motivate the talent they’ve been given.
Real talk: is our talent just non existent? You look at other teams around the country like Maryland who looks like a completely different team under Locksley. The culture at ATM was basically changed immediately under Jimbo and they look very very good. FL won 10 games in year 1 under Mehlen.
And here we are losing to GSU... I don’t know how to explain this.
Well, the upper class roster is completely his, no? Oh, and half of Pruitts first class. Now, they’re all Pruitts guys now, but the intern is the one who left the roster with a lack of talent. You may not like that because it doesn’t fit your narrative, but it’s trueI am one of Butch’s biggest critics. Didn’t like that guy at all. But it’s a little too convenient to blame problems on the last coach, especially when the current guy is in his second year.

Agreed. Already said it but repeating for truth.Exactly. It’s easy to say “it’s coaching” and sure, that’s part of it. But our coaches know how to coach football. Something is missing over there. I don’t know what it is.
