Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Yeah, and the spots that do it right I'm there often enough to be recognized. Oddly enough in our small town the spots that are good quality, priced well and locally owned are Mexican and Chinese spots.

We have 2 good coffee places too. But one of the newer restaurants that opened is more expensive than anywhere else and the food tasted microwaved/frozen at best sadly.
I miss the original Dairy Bar

You too good for Walmart?

Of course I am, I only drink locally sourced coffee from my OWN coffee tree!

(I'm just joking)

But it is part of the irony...so many folks will talk about "locally owned" and then just ignore the fact those shops are shopping at Walmart, through Amazon, etc. other "big box" spots to get their supplies anyway.

Our main in-town grocery store used to be owned by the people it was named after...and they had 100s of acres of land where they farmed all the produce sold there. Miss those days.

My local coffee shop was just ranked #2 in the world, so I have no complaints going local lol.

But ya, I disagree (not necessarily with you) that most local places fail because of big corporate. A lot of local places are horrific quality, and people insist on better now. Some chains have good quality standards and buying power (five guys, Freddy's, chickfila, Texas roadhouse, jersey Mike's, etc...).

In my experience, I've rarely seen a high quality local place go out of business. It's usually the places I didn't like.

Same, but I just don't see it happening. They're playing well, it's at their pace, and we just don't seem to be firing on all cylinders right now.
I disagree. I think this is the best we've looked in a while. We found a 3rd pitcher (Arvidson), maybe a 4th pitcher (Russell), Doyle is back, Fischer and Kilen are on fire, etc. We have a good shot.

We gave up quite a few runs the last couple days to be saying our pitching is solid... And our defense....

Local hole in the wall places have always relied on a community that exists in and around the business. That's been true for my entire life.

People are less interested in going to a restaurant every week just to hang out. So the food and prices better be competitive. I agree that they usually are not.
