Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I think this should be settled in a UFC match. Not one of these newer weight division UFC matches, but one of the original one size fits all bare knuckle matches. . .

Really though, I think Bird would probably beat the crap out of any of the guys he's being compared to.

Like Luka and Jokic?
Exactly. Puts to bed the “younger “ generation of fans that think the “athletes “ of today would dominate the greatest players to play.
Jokic has how many MVP’s ? And his 42 point 20 rebounds last night show he is still dominating.
He’s in the same athletic category as Bird, Magic.
Skills pay the bills!!!

Most probably pick Tom Brady🤮🤮🤮

Honestly for me it's hard to pick a QB for GOAT in football.

I'd have a hard time not going with Reggie White and on offense Jerry Rice is hard to dispute when you see the sort of separation between him and the next guy in every major category.

5,403 yards
41 touchdowns

Rice is basically Calvin Ridley's entire career so far (6 years) better than the 2nd best guy... that's just wild

Thank you @SugarCC ! That's the kind of information Laker fans gloss over. Their hatred for the Celtics blinds them to facts. It makes it impossible to have a debate about "who's the best" when factual information is not part of the conversation. Because if it was just about the facts, then everyone would have seen by now that I'm 100% right about LARRY BIRD BEING THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME.
I understand what you're saying, Possum, I do. I have always said that if Bird would have been able to have 4 or 5 more seasons at his peak, I truly believe he'd be either right there next to MJ, or ahead...that's how good he was. For those in the back, and even @knoxvol52 would probably agree with me here...THERE. WAS. NOT. A. SINGLE. FLAW. TO. BIRD'S. GAME...not a single one. Again...Larry Bird had NO FLAWS in his game. He truly was a perfect player. Size, skill, brain, heart, drive, will, cutthroat, savage...and, his athleticism has always been underrated. How many times have people said, ignorantly, "He couldn't play defense"?? Whenever someone says that, it shows they know absolutely nothing, and the conversation should end there with them.

MJ is the only other player in history (that I've seen, of course) that I've ever said that about. Only reason I do not say that about Magic, he couldn't shoot or score like MJ and Bird. Now, dont get me wrong, Magic could score anytime he felt like it, just not like MJ or Bird...Magic wasn't the consistent scorer they were. Scoring wasn't his game.

But, since Bird's career WAS cut short, MJ is most definitely above him. I count the short career against Bird...but, only against MJ. Magic was about near a perfect player, too; but, his shooting and defense drops him way below MJ and Bird. Magic's probably the greatest leader of all time though.

It's iconic, and as impressive as it gets...but, the facts behind it are: Celtics won the game, and swept the series. MJ had 63 pts, 6 assts, and 5 boards that night. Bird had 36 pts, 12 rebs, and 8 assts. Took home the win, and went on to win the championship and finals MVP.
