Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Until college players can be paid to play, rather than being paid for their NIL, this will continue to be the goat rodeo it currently is. When it is legal to pay them to play, binding contracts and commitments related to their play at a specific school can happen. NIL (real NIL) will then drop to a fraction of what it is now, and with it the silliness diminishes. I assume this is possible now, but prohibited by the NCAA, so congress may be getting involved to pry the NCAA's dying hands off of it.
I'm not completely against it.

To be fair, the OL was great at run blocking, bad at pass blocking. The WRs did leave a lot to be desired. But Nico made plenty of mistakes as well. It wasn't all on his shoulders, tho.
How much of the running game success was because of our splits and/or 2 te sets though? We did a lot of trap run block sets that helped there be large holes in the dl as well.

Yeah I get that, just not sure what it has to do with the gov’t.

Not even trying to a smartazz, legit don’t understand the reasoning.
The thinking is the NCAA needs at least a partial anti trust exemption to be able to have some ability to enforce rules. Ted Cruz is leading the politicians that are involved.

My point is there is a lot of mud slinging at Heupels offense. The WR's and OL has been called out for being substandard and are the reasons for the lack of big plays. That somehow, Heupel's offense failed Nico. That's all BS.

The universities doing business as the NCAA have been massively corrupt and appeared (judging by the facts and not the speeches) to have had as their primary and abiding objective to run coverups for "friends" and to persecute the rivals of "friends" or other minor parties to show that they are "doing something." I don't see how the NCAA changing its name alters this history. There is simply no evidence that universities can justly administrate sports. With or without anti-trust exemption.

Adding the power to approve or reject each and every NIL deal in the country seems like providing massive and unprecedented power to the known corrupt NCAA (under whatever new name).

I see no good options. It's really a manner of which option is least worst.

Draft NIL Legislation Aims to ‘Save College Sports as We Know It’

I’m too young to remember this show, but when I was about 11, we were staying in a hotel on vacation, and when we turned out the light to sleep, we were all saying good night to each other. Then my dad says, “Good night, John Boy.” 11-year-old me thought he was saying good night to his umm…member. I died laughing. Couldn’t breathe, tears streaming down my face laughing. My parents were totally confused. I know, cool story bro.

Is she a 5*?
I'm not finding a star rating, but saw this: The Fort Smith, Arkansas, native was the No. 7 overall recruit and No. 1 wing in the 2021 class. Wolfenbarger was a McDonald's and Jordan Brand Classic All-American, and she won Arkansas' Gatorade Player of the Year back-to-back in 2020-21. She won two state titles at Northside High School.

She was out of high but has played 3 years in college. She hasn’t put up big numbers, but she’s depth in a deep rotation.

I think I saw that we will have 7 McDonald’s All-Americans on next year’s team.
Wolfenberger is the post player and rim protector we so badly needed last season. Big get by CKC and staff.

Will be interesting to see where Tyler Baron gets drafted this weekend. If I'm not mistaken he had 2nd-3rd Rd grades going into his final year before we cut bait from his bag chasing.

Dude went to Louisville and bounced before the end of the spring for a bigger bag at Ole Miss, then Ole Miss cut bait with him and he landed at Miami.

He had a decent season against lesser competition, but not any better than his previous year at TN (more tackles only). Now I've seen a mock draft with him going in the 5th and the NFL Draft Profile has him as a 5th rd prospect.
