Recruiting Football Talk VIII

every time I see Nico's face on articles or YouTube vids, Podcast graphics... I'm just like man I can't believe he did this

It all makes sense why someone like him, or someones like his family, would do this. If you make it about the money, the conversation is always about the money, but what a crock
Thinking about small c(ash) and not the long term value of the power T.

Volnation is a long term investment not a short term con. Best move he could have made given this persona that is now leaking out. Think Arian Foster vs Al Wilson.

Don’t worry dawg, I’m on the way to kick his ass

I’m not saying he went to a better situation lmao. Im saying what his issues about the receivers and OL was definitely true most of the season last year. Many MANY posters had issues with it all year. Obvious.
Listen, Nico was there all spring and saw exactly what we had. He saw the improvements on offense. An objective comparison of Tennessee's and UCLA's offensive situations would conclude that Tennessee is a far better situation. The decision was made purely a matter of money and a distorted sense of one's value to the program. The whole situation is the inflated self worth of Nico meeting the nagging reality of a mediocre spring performance. People do funny things when reality confronts their delusional self view.

Agreed and I believe that is exactly what Heupel saw. He likely felt the team was better off with Nico starting from a pure talent standpoint. But, all the 'circus' that comes with Nico wasn't worth it and Nico wasn't as good as Nico thought he was. On balnace, Tennessee is better without him (if I could get in Heupel's head).

Basilio said today that we’ve had conversations with three different QBs by representatives not directly related to the football program or administration. One immediately said they weren’t interested and the other two have concerns about our lack of proven playmakers. This appears to be an obstacle for us.

I said it a few days ago in QB thread but it’s asking a lot to have a proven starter in a draft year leave his already good situation to learn a brand new system and gel with new teammates in 4 months.

Nico really screwed us over.

Had he stayed, we could've gotten some playmakers around him in this spring window.

Now, it will be hard to get a QB and WRs because they won't know who will be throwing/catching the ball

The playmaker thing also falls on the coaching staff.

They chose not to be very aggressive

Arian Foster wasn’t and still isn’t a bad dude. The taco story wasn’t mean to hurt us or make us look bad. It was all aimed at the NCAA. Maybe I’m misremembering but that’s what I took away from it
