What is the supposed number Nico was asking for? Has that been reported?

4 mil....and they obviously didn't think he played well enough to warrant it.

They are a really good roster that was playing far below their ability, and they finally just got hot...that's just baseball.

9-3 as a floor is...optimistic.

I'm thinking 6-6 floor, 10-2 ceiling. Closer to 6 than 10 in my opinion.

People are so dumb...I'm going with 7-9 wins not counting the bowl game...unless we have significant injuries of course...then all bets are off.

I’ve read we likely leaked it. Because we were tired of how it was impacting admin, coaches, and the team. Many were tired of dealing with Nico’s family and the drama surrounding it all.

I read we leaked it to air it out to the court of public opinion. The rumor that Lanning called Heup that Nico’s dad was bidding him out to west coast schools also aligns with us being tired of Nico and the group around him - and ultimately was a part of resulting in, “the leak”.

It appears the family was stunned to see fans and media side with the university and coaches and he then skipped meetings and practice - sealing his own fate.

I’d say the university and coaches handled this just fine.

Looks like that the more info comes out.

Hope we figure out how to remain competitive this year.

So they're suggesting we're willing to pay another QB the amount Nico was asking for? That makes no sense. If we were willing to pay $4million, why not just give that to Nico to begin with and avoid all this?

Could be they have a line on a QB that's actually worth the top QB money....Nico wasn't.

You usually aren't this dense...do you really want them to way overpay a guy just because he pitched a fit? He was being payed very well commensurate to his actual performance...imo he was already overpayed...he sure didn't deserve being in the top 3 highest paid QBs

We have to add someone. You can lose a QB on the year’s opening series (Jerry Colquitt) and you can't go through a season with one QB.

Jerry Colquitt is 52. I hope he doesn't play the opening series. OR is this a cryptic hint that Arch Manning is coming?

Hendon did pretty freakin well..and I know he had spring getting backup reps, but the point remains.

Someone in the QB thread mentioned Hoover from TCU. Their offense incorporates some of the same elements from ours. Briles ran a similiar-ish offense before getting to TCU.

If he ends up being a realistic option, he would 100% learn our offense in 3 months.

Let’s also be real for a second, we had 5 plays this past season. I’d be willing to bet if we dumbed it down like we did with Nico, it wouldn’t be that hard…

Run, run, screen, and chuck ball down field isn’t exactly rocket science.

By all accounts we was a model leader and teammate and potential heisman winner qb.

If the staff believed that either of those things are true they would have paid him. They did not. That tells me all I need to know.

Much of the offense is based on counting players in the box. If there are more blockers for defenders, then we run. If they play man off on the outside, then we throw a short pass in space. If they play press man, then the WR goes deep. Of course, there are wrinkles and set plays also run, but that’s the general offense. It’s been the same since day one.

Learning systems now isn’t what it used to be with technology.
