So I was hired by a new job. Very excited.

Yesterday I arrived to orientation early, had a great conversation with the hostess, then she retrieved the GM. Met him, he asked for my documentation and I said "oops I had left it in the car and is it OK if I parked across the street there? Where should I park"? No one had told me prior about the parking situation. They tell me the whole parking situation, I park, come back in, there's another guy that arrived to orientation late, apologizing to the GM for not having his documentation, then we are both asked to RESCHEDULE. I couldn't reschedule the next day like he asked and I left FURIOUS because I had driven all that way. THEN I receive an email that I wasn't hired anymore later that evening.

I've never even more bewildered in my life. I even sent a really nice email asking for him to reconsider to no response.

Then Florida won the natty 🙄

Currently, I hope he rots in hell. Just wanted a better job, with more money to better take care of my wife and baby son. Heaven forbid I left my f'n papers in the car and DIDNT KNOW WHERE TO PARK IN THE MIDDLE OF A MOTHER*****G CITY.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet buddy. Be glad.

They couldn't call the 2nd hafe the same as the first, Houston would've won by 30.
I see it in baseball games now as well. Ball/strike zone changes. Start off calling the low strike until it is time to call the high strike until it is time to call the outside strike...

Players in all sports deserve for their games to be called consistently throughout. They can adapt accordingly.

Maybe so. My eyes showed Houston players (after being up 12) all watchng their one ball handler dive into the teeth of the UF defense time and again while their peers stood there. It was the weirdest pivot when the game got close. It carried into final possession when they got no shot off. No one hates it more than me. UF is my most hated rival by miles.
I wasn't saying officiating was the primary reason they lost...Primary reason imo was that offensively they went away from what worked the fist 33 minutes of the game. Their offense became nonstop handoffs of watching someone drive right into the heart of UF's defense. Their offense was completely discombobulated.

They said on GMA that they used DNA from a dire wolf fossil and combined with Grey wolf. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sure, but that is not a dire wolf. They cannot do de-extinction. They can tweak living animals (like china, germany, etc have been unethically doing for decades) to have primitive features. This company is going to make designer zoo animals. They will be isolated, lonely, and a shadow of their relatives. Real scientists support conservation. The company is misleading people (READ: investors, twitter, volnation) into believing they have this breakthrough in technology that can "bring back the extinct" when the harsh reality is we are losing hundreds of species every single day and little to nothing is being done about it. It's just another tech bro rug pull shill that will IPO in the billions and crash out a few years later when the inevitable happens: there is no market force dictating it's necessity. The unfortunate reality is something we don't want to face: human-made environmental forces are destroying our ecosystem faster than this company can make knock-offs to replace them.

Sorry to be grim, but lately these kinds of late stage things have been gutting me more than usual. Hard to ignore the fact that I don't see butterflies as much anymore... perhaps they will revive them next?

They were saying on GMA that a wooly mammoth by 2026.

We are asking for problems.

"Genetic power is the most awesome force the planet has ever seen but you wield it like a kid that's found his dad's gun." Ian Malcolm

Between stuff like this and AI we're just ignoring 100 years of warnings from science fiction.

They are like 10 years late on cashing in on the GOT frenzy. Dire wolf breeder(s) would have grossed millions. This is an IG breed that is probably not in uber demand. This breed is for guys like Liver King to make IG shorts with his 4 dire wolves while eating 10 raw steaks and pitching some BS life/manliness program.

Or will produce very sad animals, as you say.

your last sentence was killer btw

It is biologically a dire wolf and they are in league with conservation efforts. It's the whole point of bringing these animals back.
