Man, all those Big East schools with no real football programs are about to drive the market out of reach for everyone else. They are hanging their hats on the House settlement going through and they plan on spending most of the revenue sharing on men's basketball. I still think that settlement will get litigated into limbo. The PG in portal that Tennessee wants has an offer from Villanova for $3 million to play there. Good times...
Reported in BB forum..
I’ve always said there is more than an actual money figure. How much were his parents going to spend to travel to Philly? Or rent a place up there? Or in income taxes? I also believe in taking a cut when you play for coaches that will better prepare you for a chance at the next level.Gillespie chose home over money..rarely see that in this NIL era.
Nice pickup though, a scoring PG what ever team needs...

How's the SO?Ja’Kobi is from Greeneville, TN. After learning that I’m surprised anyone else seriously thought they had a chance beat out Barnes. Get paid, play in front of your literal hometown friends and family with a team coming off an Elite 8 and the winningest active coach in the game? Is this even a choice?
I know, right? That is terrible, makes my heart drop. Its hard to fathom that people deny that the Climate is and or has changed. I'm not here to argue this or that in the face of tragedy. No thanks. People have lost their lives, homes, pets.
If we're in a cyclical pattern or things have changed for good. Its time to be forward thinking. Tennessee, all of it, is no longer safe from disasters, biblical floods, winds, tornados, fires.
Shelters, first responders, weather warningn systems. Peace be with all those affected.
Doing well. He gave me a scare with another infection but with that cleared up he’s regaining strength. The sepsis left him completely immobile when he first came home (so weak he couldn’t even sit up enough to keep a pillow behind him) but since then he has made remarkable progress. It may not seem like much but he has been able to sit up and stand on his own which even sitting up (with pillows let alone sitting upright) seemed impossible for weeks. He has been using resistance bands to regain strength and doing exercises in bed. I think he’s very close to being able to walk again but he was immobile for so long stamina is an issue, especially with his heart. How's the SO?

Gillespie mentioned if one particular program offered him a football scholarship, perhaps he would have considered trading in his basketball shoes for cleats.
“If the University of Tennessee would’ve offered me I probably would have flipped,” Gillespie said. “But I mainly knew I was playing basketball. I always loved basketball more, but I liked playing football as a receiver. A lot of the schools that were reaching out to me wanted me to play [defensive back], and I didn’t want to play defense in college.”
