Recruiting Football Talk VIII

O&W game not being streamed or televised is a horrible move on someone’s part, especially with the limited capacity
Let’s be real, any change to it would piss some people off. Change always does.

At least they aren’t canceling it all together. And the likelihood of it actually being entertaining just went up because less fear of tampering.

But a crowd limit of 45k and they’re not even having it on espn+?

They should just put a camera in the press box and zoom in to show the entire field and stream it on youtube. They have the tech to do it and streaming it would be incredibly easy. Not sure their media contract would allow it though

I mean, it we win the SEC tournament we will be a 1 seed.
Honestly I think if we beat Florida in the semifinals that will be enough.

Also, I think it's funny people are chicken-littling about last night (kinda funny any time it happens). Ignoring that Auburn just lost to A&M in the same scenario? Or that Ole Miss also beat beat Bama in Tuscaloosa and Kentucky but had the unluck to draw Auburn twice and lost both rivalry matchups to Miss State. If they just split those matchups (granted that's a big ask vs Auburn) they have 7 losses with 3 top-10 wins and playing Florida to end the season. They have one of the best coaches in the country and should be ranked (will be now).

I’m pretty sure college analysts at most major programs have subscriptions to ESPN+ and could still watch the game, which would defeat the point they’re trying to make. Might as well put it on ESPN or SEC Network.

Like I said, I think this will actually make it more entertaining for those going. IMO they will probably see more 11 v. 11 since there is less risk of “tampering”.

And whatd be the difference from that and them actually going?

Thanks buddy! It's been a stressful week, but all this big timing the man paid off in the end. Shew. Glad it's over. Just signed up for some volunteer work this weekend. Time to give back.
Did you ask for what you think you're worth? Did they give it to you, a little less or a little more?

I basically broke out all of my recent job considerations from my headhunter contact (used the high end ofc). 4 in total. I landed an offer right in the middle of those 4. So possibly just a tad above my market value. My counteroffer was on the very top end, 50% raise. They met me at 45+%. The plant manager fully backing me against corporate helped a lot. Relationships with folks near the top, though not at the top, that know your value and can speak to it are important. Corporate ONLY wants to look at % raises. They're obsessed with that metric and think folks will just be happy with a promotion and a few extra bucks, no thought of the labor market at all...sad. Hell, my boss wasn't even in the conversation at all. I've learned to be sure to have someone on your side that will be a major part of the internal discussions.

My "worth" is possibly tougher to quantify and prove out if we're being honest, without a lot of work proving out numbers, so the market is a nice shortcut and objectively verifiable, so that's what I relied upon in short order. It's also what they would HAVE to pay if they rejected my counter outright and I walked (I would have turned in my 2 week immediately and this was communicated, in respectful terms). I mean, if the company expresses how little they value you, not just now, but in future negotiations, there's no reason to stick around at that point. So I was fully ready to walk and made it known.

The labor market is actually horrific rignt now with all the federal workers flooding the private sector. So corporate shouldn't consider the labor market, because we workers are much more replaceable now than we've been in a decade.

So getting that kind of raise rignt now is actually even more impressive.

you guys are still talking about your raises?!

good grief. we have important things to talk about here like officiating!!! Invol get out the laptop!!

btw, about to head out of this gosh forsaken place called W TN. Its bumper to bumper in ETN, for a reason.

In the toughest conference in college basketball...we have lost 3 games by a total of 5 points including the #1 team in the country, and lost 2 games to UK that we were in until the end....we have only had ONE blowout loss, at Florida...which we then repaid to them at home, holding them to 43.

This is a remarkable team that has had a great season considering the strength of this conference and our performance in every game but ONE.

I'm proud of them...period. How far they go in the postseason will have no bearing and will never change that...I want them to go far because they deserve it.

As far as the Ol Piss game goes...any time the refs decide to not let us play our defense, they are obviously trying to make us lose...it takes our greatest strength and foundational element of the program away.

Piss on them...the refs suck.

It shows a complete lack of perspective.

We are elite. Being a 2 seed is elite. We are like a basket away from being a 1 seed and yes, it's not off the table yet.

Talk about first world problems. Imagine if we were *gasp* a four seed!! The horror! Or an 8 seed! Just fold up the program right!?

When Barnes got us to the dance in 2018, we had 20 NCAA appearances in 78 years. We have ZERO room to complain about anything. It's absolutely nuts. Taking S16's for granted, taking being in the AP poll for 80 straight weeks for granted. It is lunacy.

It would be nice to be a 1 seed. Would be cool, but...so what? We lost to an Ole Miss team who is a projected 7 seed on the road by 2 lol.
