Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Has Lunardi dropped his daily Bracketology yet? I haven't seen it anywhere. Wondering if losing last night and Florida getting a road win at Alabama moves them back up to 1 seed and drops Tennessee down to a 2.

Man we had the 1 seed in our hands and pissed it down the drain, then our coach puts the blame on the players….
Who's in between the lines the players or coaches? CRB was correct we were soft at the rim last night, dominated on offensive boards . That's not coaching that's players effort.

In a sense, yea, but this happens with every loss. He never takes the blame, always deflects it

We had a 7-8 point lead twice in the second half and couldn’t break this game open. We had a 5 minute stretch without a FG.

The inability to hit shots consistently is going to get us beat in the tournament. Again

Really need to land this kid. I know it’s been debated on what position Wyatt would play, but the two of them as true freshman could come in and elevate our WR room to the best in the conference if Mike Matthews and Staley make a big jump this upcoming season

What puzzles me is that we're built for defense. Defense and rebounding are really about effort. You can't always control your offensive performance, but you can control your defensive effort. Surprising to see how we played down low and on the boards with so much on the line last night. It's not as if Ole Miss was a superior talent like Auburn or Duke. Were we still sick? Tired? Gotta think the Barnes decision to roll with a short bench is partially responsible. Know Carr and Estrella were not expected, but shouldn't a coach expect just that to happen and prepare accordingly? Yet another opportunity squandered. Not unexpected.

Why would you expect a guy to quit mid season? Never really seen it happen. You aren’t filling the last 2 spots with dynamic players when you bring in 2-3 transfers and have two sophomores developing.

End of the day we've lost games by not finishing this year...at Vandy, vs Kentucky, at Auburn, and last night at Ole Miss.

4 of our 6 losses were clearly in our hands and we blew them more than the other team took them. But we also have games we did finish at the end at Illinois, at Texas, at A&M, at LSU, vs Bama it's part of the grind.

I will say we need Igor at 100% in a bad way though. Our leading rebounder and he hasn't looked the part since the Missouri game and last night came down an inability to defensive rebound.

This team when on can hold Florida to 44 points...or go into Auburn and hold them to 53

But this same team gave Vandy 76 twice, and let Missouri hang 81 in TBA and also Kentucky 78 with 2 starters missing for them.

Just a different type of team than we normally see. I don't think most of us would expect a Rick Barnes squad to lose any game where they score 73 or more, but half our losses have come scoring that much.

Tennessee fans would love Nate Oats because he's gonna win at least 25 games every season and recruit like hell. I know he's wearing the wrong color, but he's a hell of a coach.
Nate Oats does not coach defense, and his teams are always sloppy. They don't do the little things well.

A well coached team beats us the other day in TBA by probably 3-4 possessions but they lost because of Oats
