Recruiting Football Talk VIII

You too brother.

I hear tale of people yogging, apparently its a new fad.

Doing my best to walk, before I can run. Dont even have the military to blame for bad knees.

Hope you had a great Father's Day as well.

Obviously a different era and bowl stats didn't officially count, but it’s wild to see that '98 team had a QB who threw for only 2164 yds and 19 TDs, and not a single skill player went over 1000 yds or 10 TDs rushing or receiving.
Tee was not a good passer. He was really frustrating to watch at times. He was a 57% passer his junior year (and that's with the 24 straight completions game against a terrible SC team that only won a single game), then a 54% passer his senior year. His defense and running game bailed him out (to his credit, so did his legs a few times).

Look at his stats in the Syracuse, Florida, Georgia, and Arkansas games. They were really bad.

One thing he did well was throw a great deep ball and Peerless was a great deep ball receiver.

Dylan Loy portal bound. Wanted to be a starter but staff couldn't guarantee him a spot next season . Kid is from Pigeon Forge maybe ends up at ETSU..

Personally..i don’t blame him leaving…never was really given a chance to shine and I never liked how Tony was using him.unfortunate

Yep, agree on all counts.

You don’t think 54 appearances (33 in ‘25) over the last 2 seasons is time enough to shine? He pitched in 39% of games in that timespan.

Now if he wants to be a starter, I get that.

Also thought he shined plenty. Was a good arm out of the pen.

If I’m not mistaken all teams must trim roster from 40 to 34, so if you’re wanting to add from portal😬
Lots and lots of good players are going to portal but to where?? I read somewhere that over 1,500 players we be getting told they don’t have a spot next season.
This new deal is going to suck for a bunch of kids.

Manning to Kent was better. But Manning made Kent and Nash the two all-time leading receiver in UT history. On the other hand, Price was the reason Martin did anything passing wise that year.
And no way Nash gets 200 receiving and an 80 yard TD against Florida State even with Manning as his QB.

Peerless Price lbs for lbs was one of the best playmakers in Tennessee History

I like the 34 player limit, it keeps the power 4 teams from stockpiling talent and evens the playing field for the Mid Majors.

To say Tee was not a good passer is folly. Tee made plays, but also had a littany of NFL prospects around him. Most notably, his Oline. Having Jamal Lewis is also ridiculous, and behind him? Travis Henry.

He didnt need to be great. He just needed to take care of the ball.

If only it were that simple it would be easy.

If I do nothing, we remain stuck 14hrs from home with a chance but no guarantees I get offered a job 3.5hrs away. If I take it we are 10hrs for 1yr that will open many more doors and opportunities.

The "incredible opportunity" isn't a money play but an experience and potential career trajectory.
Pros and cons both ways. Raising kids without family close is a little more difficult, but it’s not impossible. Can grandparents get to the new place easily?

Sometimes a little distance is good for young families. You and your wife can grow closer, and visits from grandparents are more special for the kids. Prayers for wisdom. You got this.

My wife and I moved from Nashville to Nebraska early in our marriage (2 toddlers in tow) for a great career opportunity. Although Nebraska sucked, my wife still fondly talks about the time we were there. She loved having the time together with just our small family.

Four-star offensive lineman Li’Marcus Jones de-committed from Ole Miss football Monday morning after visiting Tennessee last weekend.

A rising junior in the 2027 recruiting cycle, Jones camped at Tennessee late last week earning an offer from Josh Heupel and his staff before eventually de-committing from Lane Kiffin and the Rebels.

ETSU or Austin Peay would be good destinations for Loy. Guaranteed starter at those Mid Major schools

Then he should work harder and make it happen…
That’s disappointing. If he doesn’t become a starter at Tennessee, odds he won’t start in the mlb. But that’s just my opinion.

This seems to be correct. Not only does the roster get cut from 40 to 34, but they have been allowed to have a fall roster of more than 40. I think the 34 has to be declared now in December before the season. So, the bb forum reported to expect some guys to transfer that normally wouldn't. We have a huge recruiting class that is high level along with returnees and transfers. Just the way it is going.

It's actually a massive positive. Baseball historically got only a few scholarship to share among the entire team. Now the entire 34 man roster gets a scholarship. That's massively good news for baseball players.

The only ones it's bad for is the bottom 15% of the roster who no longer have a spot.

There won't be lots and lots of good players in the portal because of this, because only the bottom 15% will be told they don't have a spot.

Well, he only had Jamal Lewis for the first five games during the '98 season but your point is valid. Also, don't forget we had Travis Stephens behind Henry.
