Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Happy Monday!

June 16, 2025: To those who have a tendency to blame others when you are struggling to live a life that you can be proud of, I tell you to do the best you can with what you have. Perfection is a very high bar that no one can actually reach and maintain. Give those around you the benefit of the doubt and be generous in your evaluations of them. Luke 6:31 And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

how are you feeling?
I'm good! Ran a half-marathon this past weekend. It was only the right half of the marathon though because I haven't had the left hip operated on just yet.

No, seriously...I am doing well. Out of PT and released into the wild again. Hope you had a great Father's Day, Jack.

You have, HAD one job……..,

Lol. Life is busy and VN is down the list of things to do. Three daughters at or almost at college makes Glitch a busy man. Won't have em at home much longer so trying to soak in every moment I can. Hope you are well!

Avoided this

Bacon liked it. Maybe we are saying bye instead of negotiating when kids want more and they’re taking it personally. Seems there are a couple recruits that look like great prospects that we’ve led for and then suddenly the script is flipped. Hope we have equal alternative options!

If only it were that simple it would be easy.

If I do nothing, we remain stuck 14hrs from home with a chance but no guarantees I get offered a job 3.5hrs away. If I take it we are 10hrs for 1yr that will open many more doors and opportunities.

The "incredible opportunity" isn't a money play but an experience and potential career trajectory.
A year goes by really, really fast. . .

You're obviously giving this serious consideration with equal thought to your family and career.

To me, that indicates you will be ok choosing either option. I say that because your approach shows that you have already committed to making it work for yourself and your family. You aren't going to screw up monumentally with either decision, you're just trying to determine which of the potential paths will offer the fewest obstacles to get where you want to go long-term.

As far as that is concerned, all you can do is make the best decision you can with the information available to you now. You can "what if" the future to obvilion and at the end of that exercise, you'll have no more information than you had when you started.

That's no great insight, just trying to help instill confidence and encouragement.

You too brother.

I hear tale of people yogging, apparently its a new fad.

Doing my best to walk, before I can run. Dont even have the military to blame for bad knees.

Hope you had a great Father's Day as well.

Well said. Sometimes, often times just that little bit of encouragement is all that is needed.

Very well said. Thanks!

Manning to Kent was better. But Manning made Kent and Nash the two all-time leading receiver in UT history. On the other hand, Price was the reason Martin did anything passing wise that year.
Obviously a different era and bowl stats didn't officially count, but it’s wild to see that '98 team had a QB who threw for only 2164 yds and 19 TDs, and not a single skill player went over 1000 yds or 10 TDs rushing or receiving.

Take the opportunity. Family is important, but not more important than actualizing who you are supposed to be, which is also best for everyone.

That's a no brainer to me. It sucks to be away from family, but it's only a year. You'll have probably 2 or 3 fewer visits that year vs living 3.5 hours away. Heck, you're moving 4 hours closer AND getting an amazing job opportunity?! Do it man.
