Our baseball team just isn’t carrying the caliber from last year atm.

It’s one thing to lose the LSU series but it’s another when you basically choke it away.

Plus Kentucky and A&M are horrendous home series losses.

I heard on a pod saying the team is top 5 youngest in the country.

No, the money isn’t unlimited; but it makes no sense to me for there to be space in April-May to increase the basketball budget by over 300%, but for the football budget to be near-maxed out the prior December-January.

I mean, it’s not impossible, but it seems unlikely.

Think uptick for basketball will turn out to be a 1 time thing to try and get Barnes a FF before he gives it up. Word in the BB transfer thread was a separate group of folks outside of the norm ponied up the money for Ament.

I mean, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. Obviously Heup couldn’t sell an impending retirement, but I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t have sold a financial push to get the team over the hump, considering they were in basically the same spot as Rick’s club. No offense to Josh; I just think Rick is better at that kind of thing.

But that completely annihilates the theory that there was no money to be had, December through April. (And again, none of us really know if money is even the problem regarding portal recruiting.)

Eh they’re vulnerable like every other team right now (outside maybe TX). Hell LSU just got run ruled in their midweek. They had a good weekend tho for sure.

Can’t be the clear dominant team every year. Especially the year after losing 5 guys that hit 20+ HRs.

Slumps go hand in hand with the heaters in baseball. Slumps are not rare...at all. We've been spoiled. If they're still playing like this mid-May, then I'll "worry" and "concern" a bit. I'm all for getting it out of our system right now. As you said, outside TX (at the moment), it's wide open.

Also, this series was ours. We rolled them one game, they rolled us another...the decider, we beat ourselves with two game-changing-losing errors.

I come on and read for five minutes and I'm already disgusted by this fanbase.

We don't deserve good things to happen...we finally after 15-years of pureed HCs get a good coach that almost instantly and miraculously makes us relevant again...and ALL the scumbags do is piss and moan and hate on the guy.

Heupel doesn't suck...YOU ALL SUCK. I have said fir years that worst fans in sports are Idiot Margin Tennessee fans...I'm just not sure they are the "margin" anymore.

For you awesome Tennessee Vols for Life with a modicum of common sense gratitude and appreciation...I salute you, you are the best fanbase in spor️

2022 and 2024 were so unusual, from a baseball perspective. This season feels like what most good programs go through in most seasons. And it all takes is to get hot for a couple of weeks in the summer.

Any large group has extremes and in this era algorithms promote the extremes. The extremes are small. Seriously. Allowing yourself to be manipulated by the algo-troll just hurts you and gives them what they want. I won't give them the satisfaction.

JMO, but I don’t think money was the issue January-April. We took 23 early enrollees and had one open spot. We now have more with several leaving. I guess you can discuss why we haven’t gotten guys in the last 2 weeks, but I think it’s clear they liked their incoming talent and didn’t have openings.
