I think I am just a little more optimistic and that’s perfectly fine. I also think our major difference is you think Nico is considerably better than I do. I just don’t see Nico as elite and have no idea who we are comparing him to. It’s all good I have just seen many a time where it turned out better. Too be fair I have also seen numerous times where it crashed and burned. I really wasn’t wanting to argue but offer a more hopeful possibility. We definitely have some question marks going into the season but I think we still had them with Nico.1) Strawman. Milton was nowhere close to the clear-cut QB1 coming into 2021. It was a close race and even HB was on the outside looking in. It was very tight. So much so that HH threw in game 1, 21 times in Game 2, and so on for the rest of the season. Even if Nico struggled through 5 quarters, you would not have seen Merk, Gaston, Gmac lol. He'd be given a very long leash to at least get back to last-season form.
We are not discussing close QB1/QB2 battles, we're talking clear cut situations. Let's not be disingenuous.
2) I should say very likely. I don't know the future, but if you were jumping at the bit to bet the over on Vols season total wins today then you're a gutsier person than myselfAgain, I hope we can go get Leavitt from ASU or some other stud, then I'm back in the saddle. Otherwise, it seems pretty clear we need to hunker down for a grind this year. Either way it's only short-term pain.
True, but both are young and have limited reps. Tough ask. Heupel is the best judge I suppose. We'll know on the 16th I suspect. The funny thing about backup QBs is that it's hard to predict how good they'll be in actual game time. In 2021 nobody expected hooker to come in and outshine Milton. Yet he did.
IDK as Zakai or Jahmai what Knoxville means to them and I’m sure they’ll have a lot to say. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, even people from other nations, when you immerse yourself in the college experience and environment you tend to grow attached to it. It makes me wonder if Nico was too much like Henry T and just never really here. If so, I feel bad for him because he has missed something that money can’t buy. He’s from California. I doubt he gives a **** about Tennessee or Knoxville at all. I don’t think any of that mattered to him. Paycheck does, though.
Hell, at this rate a walk on May be his only option. Obviously somebody will be dumb enough to get in bed with them, but he's their problem now.So Nico gonna walk on at Arkansas, thus avoiding the in sec transfer rule since not on scholarship. Then start for them this season, in the game against us in Knoxville. Holy hell that environment would be so metal.
