I’d say G-Mac has the edge over Merk in the spring game today. Of course, their whole paradigm shifted in the last 12 hours, so I am not going to go crazy either way.

O&W game results...are...m-e-a-n-i-n-g-l-e-s-s.

We've been proven this time and time again, otherwise Dormady and HB would be the greatest ever and HH never would have done a damn thing like Bass predicted after his first O&W game

I wonder if the staff's inability to land high end talent at OL and WR were what leady Nico to go with his Dad/Agent's decisions. Our RB room is good (nobody elite), the OL group is a big unknown with new guys, a True Fr. at RT and a guy at LT that flàshed talent but was also out of shape, hurt and played lazy at times.

Add an average and thin WR group with no sure-fire outside playmaker, TE took a hit with Kitselman. DL has less depth, DB lost our best CB to injury and Harrison left. I thinkbl Nico knows that next season will be tough, might cause him to come back his Senior year for draft status and either wanted big money or out.

That is why I always thought the the redshift and then play 2 years then NFL Draft plan was a little silly and arrogant. The family just assumed that Nico would play at a top NFL Draft pick level as a Sophomore and a Junior and would also attract EVERYONE in his and the class after to want to play with him.....only a few did. He had a solid Sophomore season and could have been very good as a Junior but their family's plan left no room for error. No room for mediocre seasons, no injuries, no room for patience of rosters having to be built, added to or developed in the Unlimited Portal & NIL era.

The family have put the last several years of pressure on this being Nico's "get rich" year and are making short-sighted decisions to get there when he is so close to mastering Heupel's system and getting the most out of his weapons. We might be a little thin on WR weapons now but have the Spring Portal window and time to develop guys. One of the worst 2025 scenarios is Nico only plays OK again due to his/WR/OL/TE play and then hits the portal or comes back to a loaded team next year but that doesn't fit "the plan".

This was a shakedown, pure and simple.

2. Never name your pet after a player in this era of college sports.
3. Never tattoo your Favorite teams player on your body, because he/she may leave the program.
4. Never name your new born child after a player in the NIL era.

I came over from #voltwitter. They have been on his dad's neck all day. Especially after people like me came to defend him and Nico when all of this started. We assumed it was more of the typical garbage from national media. I had to go apologize to some journalists and eat a lot of crow. But we are hyper protective out on the socials.

Yeah, the final score means nothing. But what they did today is live action, similar to a practice. All I am saying is that G-Mac has the arm and some
Wiggle to run around. Made better throws than Taterslinger.

This should be an absolute wake up call to star gazers. You see why Heupel is so selective with his players? You see why their mentality means so much to him? You see why he's always talking about "team first" guys? Wake up dorks. This isn't CFB 25 where a five star is automatically an 80 overall and a 3 star is a 70 overall. That's not how football works. Some players get overlooked, some players get overrated. But we have a coach that knows what matters most: are you going to make my team better? If so, sign on the dotted line and get to work

Exactly right. This is why our coaches in all sports handle things the way they do. This scenario is what always get with the “go to the highest bidder” players. By most accounts we were the highest bidder for Nico, and this is where we are. Those guys will always go to the highest bidder and be chasing (usually unethically) that next payday

if he had improved this spring, he probably would have been given the 4 mill. His stats weren’t any better than Milton’s the year before.

Agree. I’m hearing it was actually the team leaders that put nail in coffin for Nico. In the end, I believe a net positive, and cautionary tail for some of the players on the team. This will be a good thing for the squad.

The more I read the more I feel Nico’s camp sorely misread the landscape and underestimated the weight their actions carried. The kid had the keys to this city. Now he’s gonna have the keys to his lambo and that might be it.
