Recruiting Football Talk VII

Go ahead and hit me with that because I'm not sure I've heard it. You're right about me being stubborn, but not because I'm a diehard defender of UGA. In fact, on Georgia boards I was considered a "negadawg" for criticizing UGA/coaches/players. I think college athletics have gotten too powerful and too cutthroat. At the same time, I'm not going to condemn UGA or any other program over conventional wisdom or things "everybody knows".

As for the NCAA, I think they should cease all enforcement of payment rules and transfer rules. Or even better, disband immediately because it might speed up the efforts to redesign college sports before they're hopelessly ruined. Short of that, I think that Jere Morehead should resign his position at the NCAA because there's a conflict of interest when they are investigating UT, Florida (or any Georgia rival) over rules that are effectively illegal.
Actually really well said! Most knowledgeable Georgia fans understand the ncaa going after nil is not a good thing for any university!

Surprised there’s not more Grubb talk this AM. This is massive for us, he was the straw that stirred the drink for KD’s offense and considered one of the best OCs in the country. Massive, massive loss for them.
I am still trying figure out who was the innovator of that offense, was it Grubb or DeBoer? Seems like Grubb was based on how the NFL views him

DeBoer is a former OC and folks just assume he's the guy behind that offense like Heupel is at UT...but the only example I'm aware of that we can look at DeBoer's success as an OC is at Indiana. He was solid but nowhere near elite. Maybe it's wishful thinking that Grubb was THE key figure in the offenses at Fresno State and Washington, but I think he probably was. I think it was almost a given that Alabama's offense would be strong under Grubb...now there's at least going to be a tougher transition to a new offense and more growing pains.

Ok.............

Rainy day and kinda bored. My youngest son asked me a trivia question.............and I need some help. I'm Not cheating.

Name every player that has scored a Touchdown in the Super Bowl........That played college football at a school in the State of Tennessee

I have thought of 8................

That's not what I said. I said it's always possible, but the NCAA needs something concrete to begin an investigation. Fans always think other teams are cheating but that's not sufficient evidence.
This is 100% false and shows how much you do not know. It doesn’t take much such as a tip or anonymous phone call for the NCAA to come looking. They just decide which ones to take seriously and which ones to let slide. I know for a fact Pruitt gave some info on UGA and they did nothing with it. Don’t care what you think you know because it’s obviously not much.

When you're NOT Ohio State, Bama or UGA, The NCAA investigates you TO "find evidence". Never struck you funny that Amarius Mims was a key figure in TWO programs being disciplined AFTER investigations, yet never warranted a sniff for the program that signed and retained him for his entire college career? Hey! Getting away with it is cool, but quit with the Saban//Kirby psy ops that it's commendable and no other fanbase should have an issue with it...sheep lot is ten exits back!
I've never heard of an investigation started because of infractions committed elsewhere with no other probable cause. But maybe they did a preliminary investigation, asked Mims if Georgia paid him and he said no. I'm not good at psy ops, but I'm new to the game.:)

I've admitted I don't know much. I've never heard of an NCAA investigation based on an anonymous phone call, but it seems like that would have to contain something concrete and at least partially verifiable, not just "they cheated"?

I also didn't know that Pruitt gave them info on UGA? Did he confess to paying players while at UGA? I know he and Mark Richt had some issues at the end.

I actually went down that rabbit hole recently. If I remember correctly, it was DeBoers but Grubb has helped him refine it for years. They’ve been together for years ever since Sioux Falls minus a few years when DeBoer left and Grubb stayed as OC. I read that Grubb, when not with DeBoer, still used a lot of the same concepts but also used more under center and power running. With DeBoer he’s been in mostly shotgun formations.

A former Fresno State QB said Grubb was special and there’s no other coach like him in CFB. Penix had similar comments. Grubb called all of the plays and he was heavily involved in the OL too. DeBoer is still a great offensive mind but it shouldn’t be discounted that whoever he hires will be a drop from Grubb. They succeeded so well at UW because yes, they are both good coaches, but also because of years of trust and working together. Not only just them either, that whole offensive staff basically came from Fresno together. Now DeBoer is starting over, without his right hand man, and against the toughest competition yet.

"Georgia President Jere Morehead, who chairs the NCAA's board of governors, is one of the most-influential figures in college athletics."

Couldn't have anything to do with this, could it? Nah.

With the SuperBowl ending NFL season tomorrow.

Which team is individuals pulling for?

I'm pulling for Chiefs to win, I despise the 49ers and I've learned not to bet against Patrick MaHomes in the playoffs.

Chiefs 27
Niners 21

I’m pulling for Trey and Jauan. Can’t lose! Would love for Jauan to get a ring.

NCAA selectively chooses which schools to go after with no rhyme or reason. They are very reactive and not proactive. Huge problem there.

You guys are very passionate about your rivals cheating and I expect it and have seen it on every sports message board I've ever read.
I've seen the same. Every fanbase believes the same things.

I've even stumbled upon a European soccer forum before...I swear the posts were word for word the same about the conspiracies against their team. No doubt fandom imparts a level of tribalism, but then it waves into paranoia for some.

Which isn't to say it's always wrong... I have no doubt there's a team or a couple in each sport that have burned the wrong bridges and gained the ire of the wrong people for a period of time...but when every single team claims it...it becomes comical. And every one thinks they're situation is unique in some way and it's been happening to them since time immemorial...and their good old eyeballs and disinterested instincts tell them so. Feels familiar to other incarnations of us vs them dogmatism.

Some do, some don't...and sometimes it depends on your particular body chemistry and how your body reacts to them.
Especially brain chemistry. And where the person is in their headspace.

What's interesting to me are the folks that can keep their cool no matter how much they do of something. Others freak out on step one.

My wife, for instance, she can't handle more than 3 drinks without getting sloppy. But girl can outsmoke Michael Phelps with his lungs, and you'd never know it. Not that she/we smoke anymore. But in younger days.
