***In the name of full disclosure I came across this in a thread on Operation Sports in regards to conf realignment for NCAA '13***

All joking aside, this is a pretty sobering list. I know people will point to teams like Boise St and TCU etc and how they are high on this list without being high in recruiting rankings. But I honestly don't know how people can expect us to recruit top 10 nationally when we are behind literally every other SEC team....aside from Vandy of course.

Sorry for the length and the format, but here's an explanation of this list...

The teams are ranked by the number of wins that they have in the past 4 years (08-11). Ohio State's vacated victories don't count. Teams are first ranked by the number of wins they have, and then by the number of losses they have. Then, if they are still tied, ranked by their most recent season until the tiebreaker is broken.

I have two conclusions that I draw from this,

1. UT is currently (and has been) over performing in recruiting

2. As the wins increase (hopefully) and UT moves up this list, I fully expect things back to normal and top 15/10/5 classes to be the norm with the way Dooley has been able to recruit

Hope someone other than me found this interesting and new thread worthy (more interesting than another Jalen Ramsey thread at least)

List is garbage because it doesn't take conferences into accout. For instance, FIU is 2 spots ahead of us....are we to conclude FIU > UT? In the words of Nell Carter - gimme a break.

I'm glad somone noticed this immediately. Not a good list at all. Notice the #1 is a WAC team? C'mon man. I know they are establishing themselves as a formidable opponent, but seriously...

Data is irrelevant just as national rankings in statistical categories such as total offense and defense. It doesn't take into affect the opponents you are playing.

With that said, DD is overachieving in recruiting based on the WL record. He is selling the Tennessee brand, facilities, VFL, early PT and future glory. You sell what is in your kit and they are doing a pretty fair job. If the wins come this season, there will be a huge new tool we can sell and the more elite prospects who are now just listening will sign up.

Really! Name all the teams you think make the list garbage and then tell us what number that makes us.

Alright now that is 34 teams that I think we can all agree should immediately be romoved from the list. Take all those teams off and you have the Vols setting at
#44. I think it is pretty freakin obvious CDD has recruited pretty damn well. Give credit where its due and when it is due.

It would need to take strength of schedule into effect to be legitimate. Not just wins and losses.

Also name one team that is below us that has recruited better and then look at how many teams that are above us that we have recruited better than. I would put money on it that we would be the number 1 team on the list if you have + points for every team above you that your recruited better and - points for every team below you that out recruited you. Does not matter if you like Dooley or not the one thing you can not knock is the fact that he has recruited well for the circumstances and has definately rebuilt our roster.

I just remember Dwayne laying on the bed with his bare feet looking like he wore a size 18. Still have the image in my head.

Rivals has our recruiting class ranked 21, and Vandy 1s 17. We are ranked 9th in the SEC.

That will change. Not sure how far up the SEC list we can move.....maybe to six, but we will definitly pass Vandy and a couple of others. I say we are at least top 15 (with a good season) nationally by the time it's all said and done.

I get the whole conf argument and SOS too, but break it down further (haven't checked this math but you get the idea)

Since '08 (SEC record)
Alabama: 42-5 (25-4)
Arkansas: 28-16 (12-14)
Auburn: 31-14 (16-12)
Florida: 38-9 (22-7)
Georgia: 28-17 (16-12)
Kentucky: 22-22 (7-19)
LSU: 34-11 (17-10)
Ole Miss: 24-19 (10-16)
Mississippi State: 21-22 (9-18)
South Carolina: 27-18 (14-15)
Tennessee: 21-22 (10-16)
Vanderbilt: 14-28 (6-21)

Not trying to be a negavol either, just trying to bring home the point that for anyone arguing that Dooley's recruiting so far hasn't been acceptable, they really have no leg to stand on. He's doing great considering the state of the program when he took over. How could anyone realistically expect us to finish higher than 5-7th in the SEC rankings?!

No denying that he needs a successful year on the field this fall tho, and I think he gets it finally.

If he didn't get at least Top 15 classes, with spending 1.5 million dollars a year on recruiting, then that would a shame in itself.
