Ha. Haven’t they heard you have to focus your efforts on one guy until he’s off the board and THEN you move on to your next target? Rookie mistake.

Wow. This really the poster you are looking to become?

Typically if you feel someone is a lock and you only are recruiting 1 player for that spot you dont start pursuing other guys, especially at this stage.

This is like recruiting a QB in college, been on him for 2 years and it’s down to you and Bama, and a month before NSD you start offering other QB’s...typically doesn’t mean you’re in great shape with that initial QB.

No need to question their methods. I know they messed up. First mistake was offering two guys Rick Barnes is recruiting. What Barnes wants Barnes gets. And if Rick passes on them well you’re not getting a coachable player. Good luck with those divas Baylor. Suckas!!!

When a coach shines in developing players the importance of recruiting well on paper deminishes
Greatly. To add to that the grad transfer phase allows coaches to plug holes which makes traditional recruiting of Hs even less important.

Agree. We should wait until spring every year to fill our class. Flawless plan.

Got my opinions in line with the rest of the active posters.

I've seen some things going around if he does indeed go to Memphis then Arkansas will look to investigate for tampering

Good luck with that. It happens to many every year. As long as the kid initiated communication or it was done through a third party, there is nothing that can be done.

If the kid initiated it the communication couldn't continue

Kid calls his AAU coach, who contacts Memphis to gauge interest.

Not saying that's what happened, but it's common.

Sure that's third party which is very hard to prove.

I was saying if the kid contracted Penny directly
That phone call better be less than a minute or he could be in trouble

Penny is going to do well there.

He will have no issue getting talent, but X&O will be interesting...he’s gonna hire Mike Miller who has never coached to be an assistant, will be a killer recruiter but like Penny not experienced as a college coach. He has Tony Madlock on staff, he’s an experienced assistant and has Memphis ties...in short that staff is going to get any Memphis area kid they want, but as Pastner proved that doesn’t always equate to major success.

In hindsight, I think some of their fans would take back Pastner's results. He made the NCAAT four times, but he couldn't get above a 6 seed and had to play top seeds if they won the first game.

Local radio said today that Larry Brown would be on staff if Penny had his way, but the administration is not 100% on board.

Yup, have seen that rumored for awhile...would be a homerun if he could add Larry Brown.
