Not that it will be a huge strain on the roster but he is supposedly giving his son a scholarship. That is a waste of 1 of their scholarships.
Update. Offered by Kansas and Duke tonight. Absolutely blew up this season after leading his team to the 4A Championship.
Tim said Calipari, who selected Romeo to play for his U-19 Team USA at the World Cup in Egypt, told the Langford family months earlier in their New Albany, Indiana, home he couldn't wait to coach their son, both internationally and potentially at Kentucky.
But Romeo, the 6-foot-5, five-star shooting guard considered the No. 5 overall senior in the country, played only eight minutes in the opening game and back spasms limited his availability the rest of the event.
Tim said he didn't like what he saw. He didn't see what Calipari said was going to happen.
"I just told him, 'You came in our house, said you couldn't wait to coach our son and do this and that. You had the opportunity before his back started bothering him. I didn't appreciate it because you said you wanted to coach him and you had the chance to do it.'"
Romeo cooled the situation.
He told his dad, despite what he saw in the huddle against Canada, he liked Calipari and wanted to keep Kentucky in the running for where he might play college ball. So Tim called Calipari again, asked to set up a visit in the fall and waited for the word.
"I don't have to play the game," Tim said. "Romeo does."
Calipari never called back.
I don't worry about such things so far out.
No
No reason to think Barnes won't have the same dynamic going then though. He will be developing guys and putting a winner on the court. It's all about development and he's proven he can do that so the rankings mean next to nothing.
This guy would be similar to Simons. Seems to me like this could be cause for concern.
Can we leave the childish s**t out of this thread once and for all? 90% of the time when I see this thread has had activity and I click to see what's going on it's nothing but a s**t show in here instead of actual recruiting discussion/news. Absolutely ridiculous
Not just this thread, this same argument plagues nearly every thread in the B-Ball forum. It's been rehashed over and over and over again.
Those days are over.
I now realize that any criticism or anything that could potentially be viewed as criticism (even if it's not) is not welcome here.
Rick Barnes is off limits. I've read the message loud and clear. I'm done wondering if we can get higher ranked players cause the reality is it doesn't matter. Whoever he gets will be awesome. He is bullet proof and we all know that nothing about his recruiting was fortunate. He knew exactly what he was getting with each and every player and he is a master developer.
:hi:
Lol I wasn't even talking specifically about you. I don't really care which opinion you have. I just think it's ridiculous that the same argument has plagued several threads for the past season.
:hi:
It's ridiculous that it has to be an argument but once you've been enlightened to our recruiting method and profile you can understand. I know I do now.
I mean Rick Barnes is apparently on the cusp of landing his highest rated commit since he got the Tennessee job but there's really no need to even talk about the 2019 class being important because Rick Barnes is so freakin awesome that every class is of the same importance and he has the uncanny ability to fill up his classes in April and May while everyone else does so the 9 months prior so no class ever really matters cause we can just take whatever is left in the late spring and we will develop them and X and O the piss out of whatever group of 4* and 5* are foolish enough to stand in front of us.
