Recruiting Discussion

Again another overreaction to my thoughts on recruiting.

We should be doing better than this though. We have two spots and don’t have a commit in this class.

How is it an overreaction? He is the exact kind of recruit you thought we would no longer be recruiting, that was my point.

I don’t know anything about him.

It shouldn’t be this difficult to get commits. I’ve pretty much given up on adding an impact freshman in this class. 2019 needs to be Barnes best class he’s had in Knoxville.

He was ranked in the 300’s out of high school, would be lowest ranked kid on the roster I believe...from Houston Baptist.

So, you admittedly know nothing about him, but still feel confident enough in saying he isn't the kind of kid we should be adding.

Seems reasonable.

UT has reached out to David Caraher from Houston Baptist who played with Jalen Johnson and is a 6'6 wing from Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Geez. I didn’t say that. Said we shouldn’t be having this much trouble adding a commit.

The paranoia of some of y’all is off the charts. Rick Barnes didn’t invent basketball.

We shouldn’t be looking for transfers and have a blank commit list. We are where we are though.

Keep spinning if you want. Idc.

Why shouldn’t we be looking for transfers? That’s a huge part of CBB, hell just look st last nights game and you’ll see examples.

23-7(13-5), tied for SEC title, made SECT finals game, made the tourney...returns 12/13 players, but sure let’s complain about the roster.

I just said we need a good 2019 class.

You are already laying the groundwork for the excuses though.

We keep winning like we did this season it won’t matter but I just think we can do a little better recruiting. Doubt we find a 200+ ranked 3* that becomes SEC POY again but I’m just a Rick Barnes hater I guess.

Again not an outrageous claim but it’s taboo to question anything. Bath water drinking is a requirement on here.

On the surface I agree because it’s been expected to be a big class, but if we add a transfer it makes it 1 spot smaller so maybe isn’t as big as ‘16 class was.

How so, you’ve said expectation is make the dance every year, if he’s doing that then by your own standards how can you complain?

So it’s purely a coincidence to you that in Barnes first full class he found a really good player in Barnes? Disregard that maybe Schofield is SEC POY next year if he plays like his finished the year which would be another 3* SEC POY from Barnes...just maybe he knows how to develop guys?

Question lots of things, some questionable coaching stuff imo, but to me it’s really hard to question anything about this current roster given the results.

I’m not questioning Barnes ability to develop.

I think we can recruit better and I’m still not sure we are working as hard in that area as we could. Sorry that’s just my take. My inclination is that the staff believes we can just develop our way to where we wanna be and maybe that’s true but it would be nice to see him develop about 4-5 guys on the roster ranked 50-100 or so.
