Simons is off the board.

Tony Harris could come in right now and be a better basketball player than Darrington. I know you think everyone on the team is good or will improve by leaps and bounds, but coaches miss. It happens. Darrington showed nothing last year that he is a capable, consistent SEC player. If you can bring in a legit freshmen guard, and Darrington leaves, then you take that deal

Tony Harris ran out of eligibility almost 20 years ago.

Somebody that's a HS senior this morning will be a better option to turn loose?

If they’re a quality player then yes, Jordan Bone gave us 20mpg as a true freshman. Bringing someone in who can give us 10-15mpg and learn behind Bone instead of being thrown to the wolves would be a blessing. Darrington isn’t the PG of the future, best case is he’s a backup PG giving us 10mpg and then is gone after this season, I rather those 10mpg go to someone who’s got 4 years.

Especially if that person is better on day 1.

I'd rather use somebody that gives TN the best chance of winning in 2018-19.

Tennessee is in a great spot, there’s not a glaring need...yes we could use a scorer that can go and get his, but we lost that chance when Simons declared imo. Very unlikely to find a freshman capable of doing that, or a graduate transfer, most likely case is someone on your roster developing that. So with that said if you have no glaring holes then continue to add developmental guys, add a PG who can learn behind Bone for 2 years and ideally imo add a big man 6’10”+ who can learn behind Kyle. If he’s raw like Kyle was slap a redshirt on him, would be nice to have to size next year but hopefully with Kent and improvement from Walker/Fulk and increased role for Kyle it won’t be a huge need.

TGO let me phrase is like this...one person off the current roster has to leave, who is your choice?

It's totally dependant on how the open scholarship is used. TN lost Daniel, so they're already down one guard. I kind of lean toward Kent, but adding his size and ability to hit an uncontested 3 adds a dimension that could leave the paint less congested for Williams to operate.

Sorry, I'm just not on board with running off anybody from this roster. I wasn't bothered at all when Kwe Parker, Kasongo, or Phillips exited. I like the current chemistry. I was actually concerned that Simons would have been disruptive.

Barnes has already said they want to add a PG, preferably a HS PG, so that is how they plan to use the open scholarship,

Who said anything about running someone off? You don’t think it’s possible that maybe Darrington wants to get back closer to home given how he left the team earlier this year to return home? Or that maybe he isn’t getting as much PT as he wants and so he’s looking at options to get more PT?

It doesn't sound like Tyler Harris is very likely to pick TN over Memphis and Baylor.

Based on? What about Akinjo? Lots of assumptions on your part in this post, and even if they didn’t land either of those guys and landed someone lesser rated, I see it more likely as Turner being the backup PG over Darrington. You add Johnson and Pons to the rotation and it eliminates a lot of Bowden’s minutes at the 3, so now he’s playing more 2 which pulls from Turner’s minutes there, makes sense he would see some time at the 1 since he already did this year as well.

I think that’s possible even if we land us a PG.
