Mike Finke is leaving Illinois and will be a graduate transfer, 6’10” 220lbs, averaged 10ppg 5rpg and can step out and hit the 3 ball. Not a world beater by any means but he’s played a lot of P5 ball and we could do a lot worse with a 2nd scholarship.

That would be a solid take imo.

Never hurts to add size plus it’s a bonus if he can spread the floor.

Hmmmmm....

Career 36.2% 3-pt shooter as well (106-293).

I spent the day watching some older games. 2006 Memphis vs UT. UT @ Texas. And 2007 UT @ Memphis. And Texas vs UT. We need Chris Lofton 2.0. He was such a pure shooter. Really miss him.

IMO Lofton probably had the farthest range of any Vol ever. Michael Brooks had similar range, but minus a 3-PL and having Devoe as his coach, he didn't attempt as many deep, deep shots. Allan Houston really didn't need to shoot as deep as Lofton because he had more size and was probably the best ever at shooting off of his dribble. Mike Edwards had pretty good range as well.

Vq chat got pretty awkward on the 2nd scholly situation. One post is adament that someone is transferring and he won’t say who. No vq guys shot it down. Rob Lewis wouldn’t say if there was or not.

Yea, if anyone follows my posts from yesterday they’ll see my tone changed a bit on a potential transfer shortly after Barnes met with the media for his presser.

FWIW VQ did say “if” a 2nd scholarship were to come open they think Tennessee would pursue a transfer from a school with a coaching change that would have to sit out. My thought would be someone with some size if we are looking to add a HS PG with the first scholarship, would make sense to pursue someone 6’10”+ that would take over for Kyle.

Please don't let it be JJ. JJ has so much talent and I think if he stays healthy all off-season, he will make the kind of jump, we have seen with everybody on the team. Fulk's the exception, but, like JJ, Fulk wasn't healthy.

Just from listening to what Barnes had to say about individual players it’s hard to imagine it being anyone other than Darrington. He was very optimistic in speaking about Pons and Johnson future here and talked about what an important off season it was for those guys as well as Fulk & Kent. When talking about Darrington he was much more questioning on if CD has the everyday drive to compete at the level it is going to take to be a player at this level.

Darrington would be the best one to lose. Only has a year left and I dont Think he will break into the lineup.

Honestly I don’t even think darrington is at this level. From what he has shown I would be afraid to turn him loose on the backup point guard position.
