Recruiting Discussion

May I ask you why not? It's the most reliable source there is available.

It's not. What they are attempting to provide would be great but the reality is that the formula has flaws and the ratings across the services is not apples to apples. They also aren't able to keep up with the other services updates throughout the year.

Also, last year we found where they had several of our recruits as composite 4* and they were consensus 3* recruits. The formula has flaws.

I doubt he would make it up and then put it on his blog. Maybe he has a different list of targets than you do. I can't imagine he made it up and put it out there for people to pick apart. Although, the interest in UT hoops is pretty low right now as a highly anticipated football season is about to kick off.

Like I said, I haven't listened to him lately so I don't know what he is referring to. I'm sure he has discussed it on air.

What possible list of targets could he have? If that's the case then he's still WAY off base and obviously needs to update his list, but again, that's not what happened.

I'm going to listen to yesterday's show and see if I can find out what he is referring to.

He doesn't miss a chance to rip barnes so he could be jumping the gun here.

I'll let you know what I find.

I have to disagree with you. I have the paid subscription service for 247 Sports in which you get a lot more than you do without one. I have it(paid subscriptions) for other recruiting sites too.

I know what each one of them are about in recruiting. 247 Sports IS NOT a flawed system at all. I'm sorry to burst your bubble. Believe & trust in whichever system/site you want but it's 247 composite for me all day long. Thanks!

247 composite is flawed. Posters on this forum had to bring it to their attention last fall when they had Fulkerson and another guy or two ranked as 4* in the composite when 247, espn, scout and rivals had him 3* or lower.

I have seen it too many times with the composite when the composite ranking doesn't match up with their rankings across the different sites.

Ok man. It's your choice. I think 90% of the members on these boards trust 247 composite more than any other recruiting site. I know that's the status for football rankings anyhow. Don't know how most feel about basketball.

They can trust them if they want. Doesn't change what I know. That the 247 is not what it claims to be.

It can be used for consensus top 10 guys, sure. It can be used for top 50 guys I would say. The farther you get from the top of the rankings, the less reliable it becomes. They just aren't able to track the hundreds of prospects across 4 different sites with continuous updates for each throughout the year.

I like 247 but I'm a rivals guy. Where my account is.

Tennessee basketball visits on the books right now:
6-7 PF Tyler Polley (9/16)
6-8 PF Isaiah Stokes (9/16)
7-footer Victor Uyaelunmo (9/23)

Vols in top 5 for Tyler Polley, top 6 for Abu Kigab (4-star 6-7 SF) and top eight for Victor Uyaelunmo.

Per VQ Chase Johnson has scheduled an official visit with Tennessee for October 15th, however depending on how things prior to that unfold Tennessee may not bring him in.

Polley is scheduled to visit for the Ohio game and according to VQ the staff feels pretty good about landing a commitment from him coming off that visit. UCONN is the main competition for Polley and he visits them the weekend before UT, but if he makes it to Knoxville the chances he's a Vol seem good per VQ.

Isaiah Stokes will also be here the weekend of the Ohio game, Tennessee is his first OV, he will see TCU, Iowa State and UNC sometime after his trip to Knoxville. This is one of those situations where it feels like the longer this one goes the less our chances become, Tennessee will be pushing hard for a commitment on his OV and trying to stop any other OV's from taking place.

That leaves Victor Uyaelunmo, who because of his measurable is probably the top guy on the board, he's scheduled to be the lone official visitor for the Florida game. Per VQ Tennessee feels good about their chances with Victor at this point, he's got a couple visits lined up before UT so again it would seem if he makes it into Knoxville as expected that the Vols will have a great shot.

So my question becomes this...you have Polley & Stokes coming in together, and Uyaelunmo a week later, it seems that clearly Uyaelunmo is a take, so would they take a commitment from Polley & Stokes as those guys end their OV's? Will be an interesting one to watch, if not and Polley commits on his visit, and Uyaelunmo the next week, does Tennessee really tell Stokes they don't have room??

If all three want to commit then take them all and find a scholarship later. If nobody does something stupid and gets kicked off or flunks out, somebody gets cut.

Odds are very slight that:
1) All 3 commit,
2) and every current player on scholarship doesn't quit or transfer,
3) and every player remains academically eligible,
4) and every player stays out of trouble.

With the possible exception of Turner (maybe Alexander too if his skills really advance) really there may not be a single player on the roster that is worth keeping with baggage over the three possible commits.

Alternatively, if one of the returning 11 is from a family that can afford paying their way, then they can convert to a walk-on. There can always be a way to "reimburse" them later. Maybe they get a nice signing bonus with their employer when they take a job after graduating.

So the odds are tiny to begin with and there are possible solutions if it became a "problem".

Looking at the 247 timeline, in Aug it has OK state listed as the leader for Polley. But sinfe then UConn and UT has moved ahead. Just wondering if OK st is still a contender here and if not anybody know what happened? Did they cool on him or vice versa.?

No chance with Obiagu?

Got to land Uyaelunmo for any chance to return to Vintage Barnes ball. JMHO.

No, they're out of it for him.

Agree, Uyaelunmo is an absolute must get it would seem, unless they find someone in the fall but that will be hard to do.

Illinois thinking the same way I think. could be the strongest competition?

Nevermind. Must have been an old article. they got tillman.

BTO,

What do you have for Uyaelunmo OV schedule? I know there are multiple reports saying he is coming here on the florida weekend but scout reported yesterday he was coming the Ohio week. Curious if soemthing has changed
