If I were a member of JM's family, I wouldn't give two craps about it either way. I'm not comparing the two as people in any way, shape, or form. Only pointing out that both left at midterm.

You seem to be trying to create controversy where none currently exists.

No. I'm backing up my point that other than JM, I'm not aware of another player leaving UT in the middle of the season that wasn't shown the door. Woodson's leaving was nothing like McGhee's. That's not creating controversy. Suggesting that they were similar scenarios is though.

Lol, well his family seems to disagree based on AD's statement that they aren't bothered by the comparison at all.

Provide me some proof that Woodson was dismissed from the program and I'll eat my words. I already provided the statement from the university and a statement from Donnie Tyndall, both calling it a transfer.

Not that any of that really matters. You asked for an example of another player leaving at midseason. I provided an answer. You don't have to like it, agree with it, or even acknowledge it. I'm not sure why you're so salty about it honestly, nor am I sure why you seem hell-bent on finding my "comparison" offensive.

No again. I didn't ask for another player that left at mid-season. I asked if there was one that left that wasn't asked or told to leave. Despite CDT's diplomatic statement, Woodson was shown the door. McGhee was welcome to stay.

He did kick that post player off that sat in the student section with a sign begging to come back.

Can't remember the timing on Washpun. Winchester for Buzz either. I thought that Denton Jones might have quit mid-season when he was going to be required to wear protective headgear, but his head injury actually occurred between seasons while Bobby Knight was holding a clinic.

You are correct. Transferred after his first semester of FR year to NC State.

He then later transferred again to Georgia St. following his JR year at NCSU.

I never said there wasn't more to Woodson's departure. I'm just saying you can't provide substantial proof that there was more to it, and to this point, you haven't. Tennessee called it a transfer. If he was dismissed, what does the university gain by glossing it over under the guise of calling it a transfer?

In the annals of UT basketball history, Woodson will go down as a midseason transfer, just as McGhee and Marques Johnson. The circumstances of their departure are really irrelevant. That's all that really matters.

Why are you still arguing about it? You already made it clear you don't agree...and I'm fine with that.

Not arguing about that. I clarified that I posed the question as the player choosing to leave, not being booted or leaving when not getting significant PT. I don't think that Johnson was seeing the court much at all... but it's been several years. That transfer was disappointing but not shocking. McGhee was getting plenty of playing time. It was disappointing and shocking. Had he sat out more than the one game, it wouldn't have been as shocking. AD said that JM wasn't told why he wasn't played and then went to tell Barnes of his intention to leave. It's odd that there wasn't a meeting between being benched and quitting.

I thought that Johnson could have helped. IMO Woodson was a cancer.
