Recruiting Discussion

I think we have some underrated recruits coming in. With what we have coming back we could win 18 to 22 games next year depending on development.

As I have expressed for awhile I think Bone/Johnson/Williams/Fulkerson are all guys who are solid SEC caliber players and deserve to be ranked right in that 150 range. You've got 4 guys who best case come in and work their behinds off and follow the path of say a Josh Richardson in that by year 3&4 they are all conference caliber players.

Not going all the way out on a limb just yet but from what I've picked up today Tennessee has gotten some good vibes on the Kwe Parker front today. I wouldn't totally discount the possibility that something might change in the next 24 hours but as of now I think there's a really good chance that Tennessee gets good news on that front tomorrow or Wednesday. He hasn't called and committed or anything based I'm what I'm hearing but it sounds like things may be trending that way. Again, let me stress that I'm not saying it's a done deal yet but think it could be heading that way. Will continue to follow and update when/if hear anything else.

Composite rankings of 154, 222, 225, and 241 aren't going to make Barnes job any easier. Parker would be a decent pickup at 127. It's like I said before, I think Barnes is gonna struggle recruiting outside of Texas.

And it's like I said, I think most of those guys are underranked, and seeing how those guys performed against great competition seems like good evidence of that. It's better than the opposite, recruiting highly ranked guys and still struggling because of bad coaching, isnt that right?

So with 4 verbals in tow we are ranked number 58 in team recruiting. Not sure if I want to cheer or SMH.

Not spectacular but it's a solid foundation class. Adding a PG, Johnson can play 2/3, Fulk should be a nice 4, Williams could be an undersized 5.

Every fanbase thinks their recruits are underranked. You've always been one to talk about "Top 150" recruits. You're not at all worried he's recruiting guys ranked in the 200s?

This year, no, I'm not. Grant Willims and John Fulkerson are guys that he targeted and evaluated very early on, he also saw Jordan Bruner and Braxton Blackwell two guys ranked higher, and like the games of the first two more. To me, that means something, unless you're suggesting the guy flat out just can't evaluate talent, then it should carry some weight. I think you'll see these guys rankings climb, probably not into top 100 range, but I think top 150 by some services is possible. This is a class full of guys who best case are 4 year players, develop their games and bodies, and follow a career path of say Josh Richardson. The next step is that we need to find some guys who can contribute in a major way immediately, hopefully by only having say 2-3 scholarships for the 2017 class, the staff is able to do that.

I've been defending Barnes recruiting saying he's building us a foundation but after seeing Alabama,Miss St.,Auburn recruit big time 4-5 star recruits with ease it's starting to worry me.

Hey BTO, who are the targets we sit the best with in 2017. We need some big guys to help our front court.

Guys holding offers in 2017:

#11 Ikechukwu Obiagu
#25 MJ Walker
#63 Rayshaun Hammonds
#67 Nickiel Alexander-Walker
#77 Lindell Wigginton
#87 Victor Uyaelumno
#121 Lavar Batts
#130 Nicholas Claxton
#133 Zach Kent
#135 David Sloan
#143 Wyatt Wilkes
#156 Isaiah Stokes

I feel comfortable saying Tennessee is in good shape early with both Stokes and Hammonds, don't know enough about their position with the others.

Sloan is legit.

I'm not. He will get his players. And these guys coming in will have a chance to be all conference by their 3rd year.

Thanks. Hoping for a top 25 class next year. Is that realistic??
